I have watched the trailer about 8 times now and realize how much I am paying attention to every little detail on the super ships. I think it would be awesome if you could target exact things on the ship and blow them up one by one. I wonder how attacking those kind of ships would be worked out. If each item would have it's own "health bar" or if it is just considered one thing and it takes damage as you weaken it.
With Roberts I don't see it as that simple. I would like to fly around in one of those behemoths but don't exactly have 5-10k to drop. I guess I will just have to work for however long in game to get one if they are available that way. Guess we will know in 2 years.
But yeah the main point is anyone else in awe checking out those huge ships? Maybe it awoken nostalgia form old like the first time seeing the Star Destroyer on Star Wars. I think a big ship scaling by will always be super cool and can't wait to see more of them in game.

Roberts made the comment that the game engine asks each directional thruster how much thrust it can give each time you make an directional input; and if a thruster is damaged then the amount of thrust it can give is reduced.
So YES, you can damage things like engines and different parts of a ship depending on shield strength and area hit; or something like that.
This is one I am keeping a very close eye on.
