This is a stupid questions, but here is my list:

GW2, RIFT and EVE, BF3 and Natural Selection 2.

There is no rule that says that if u play one game, u cannot play anyother.

Your post comes off insensitive as if you dont really care what other people are playing beyond GW2.  But I digress...

I left GW2 to play EverQuest.  Its a very immersive world, due to its age (and maturity) I have over 300+ different zones to visit.  And over 18 expansions to explore. I can work as many tradeskills as I want (Im not limited to two or have to switch). One of the best aspects are Alternate Advancement (AA) points which grants more unique customization.  I have the flexibility to determine how much of my XP goes to AA versus my level via a slider.  More classes and races to choose from.  No action combat, but strategy driven by hotkey / tab targeting.  Housing.  And (for me) the community is more alive and active.

To your point, its not about which game is better.  No one can answer that (for you) since its subjective. What it comes down to is what a player looks to get from playing an MMO.  If you want in-depth, progression, true RPG you wont be playing GW2.  If you want a pretty, casual, RPG lite experience you will most likely play GW2.

I'm not here to change your mind whichever you pick...

Let me give you an example.

I like Star Wars.  I personally like it much more than most movies I have seen.

    I also like The Godfather.

Given the choice, I would probably watch Star Wars right now.

Is that because it's superior?  No, quite the contrary.  It's just what I'm in the DAMN mood to watch now.

    So....

    after reading that.....

does that just blow your mind?   Like how I won't choose to watch the superior choice over the other?

Well, I was actually referring to EP IV and The Godfather I.

Although I enjoy and love Star Wars, I don't consider it nearly in the same league of filmmaking as Godfather 1.

I still play GW2 occasionally. It is really lacking in any form of carrot that interests me and that will keep me playing. The events are boring, require little to no strategy, and recycle themselves way too often. The PvP can be fun, but is meaningless in its current state and the zerging quickly becomes stale. They also are not very quick at fixing bugs and hacks. The game is visually incredible and provides a great environment. I just wish it was more of a world.

Currently I am waiting on DF:U. Hopefully that will "cure" my boredom for the time being.......

'Please share us with your expert suggestion'. I think that gives away your intentions behind this topic. Nice attempt at baiting though.

It's not baiting. I seriously want to know what games are so far superior to GW2 because I might like to try one of them out.  I'm not an expert because I've only played 4 mmorpgs for any effective amount of time. There are alot of people with much more experience in the genre than myself so I would consider them experts.

So whats the problem. Whats this game that you've got keeping you entertained?

I think the impression of "baiting" comes from the way you're asking. There's a kind of mocking tone, when you're asking..

"... what game or games are so much better than GW2"

"... what games some of these more enlightened individuals play"

"... what actual mechanics make these games so much better"

"... Please share with us, all of your expert suggestions."

... and so on... Relevant bits italicized for emphasis.

It comes across as a challenge, as if you're saying "what game could possibly be better than Guild Wars 2, that people would rather play it instead"? Also, we've seen those kinds of posts a hundred times around here. It's always someone "challenging" people to list games that are "better than -game x-", only to start smack-talking and bashing every single game provided in response. It comes across like someone trying to validate their own choice of game by beating down others'.

If you'd simply said, "For those who aren't playing GW2, what MMOs are you playing instead?", and just left it at that, it would seem more neutral and less facetious and "bait-like".

Those extra flourishes ("so much better", "enlightened individuals", etc...), are really not necessary to the question you're, ostensibly, genuinely looking for real answers for.

With those specific remarks above, you seem to be asking for absolute, objective responses to something that's entirely subjective, and certainly not absolute. People are simply going to see qualities in games that they like that you may not see. Likewise, they're not going to see qualities in GW2 that they like as you do. Gamer likes and dislikes don't fit into neat little categorical boxes. There's a thousand shades of gray in there. You could probably find people who don't even enjoy GW2 for the same reasons you do.

Now, going on the assumption that you are being sincere, I'll tell you what I'm playing currently... and not because I think GW2 isn't "as good", but because GW2 simply isn't the kind of game I'm looking for at this point.

I'm playing Rift a bit. I've been kicking around in FFXIV for the time it's online before 1.0 goes bye-bye.

Other than that, I've started playing Dreamfall again, out of excitement of Ragnar Tornquist's announcement of returning to that series.

I don't play GW2 anymore because from day one the community turned me off. As far as other games I play? I play ones I find fun.

Doesn't really affect my remarks. If you wanted a challenge where you were at risk of dying, then there are means for you to find it. If you thought the game was simple overall, that's your own opinion and your own preference.

There's a distinction between which aspects are matters of opinion and which arent'. I for example have never considered metagame aspects to be challenging. Balancing numbers to get a certain build to work takes it's own form of intelligence, but I do not see min-maxing as a sign of a game being challenging or difficult. I do think Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation put it well when he caleld it a game of numbers, you work to get a big number that you use against other things with big numbers so that you can get a bigger number than them and attain the biggest number of them all.

That's not the kind of game I like, but i know there are many that love that kind of game.

I prefer games where character customication and stats help me tailor a character concept. More so on the gameplay side i prefer more control given in how I move and interact with my character in the environment and less reliance on numbers to tell me if what I just did actually happened or not. I want the challenges not to come from superficially difficult oponents with big numbers, but because they are genuinely more intelligent and challenging to fight and overcome.

That's something i can say even GW2 fails at. Tera is no better about it either. There are too many enemies where the threat is only generated by their ability to do more damage to you when they hit and having an inordinate amount of hp to whittle down. To me that's not challenge, that's a grind.

I still like GW2 personally, but it's less about the gameplay alone for me and more that I quickly sought out my preferred kind of community to interact with for the time being. If a different game that caters to my interests creeps up, then I'll more than likely jump ship for that, but for now it's game hopping and tinkering with community.

As for bcbully. If you didn't get it there, then you never will. :p

EDIT: As for other games I'm playing. I'm playing PS2 also. ^_^

Additionally I pop on to play Firefall, DDO, and Raiderz. Sometimes I play a few other games as well, but these are all largely not specifically because I love the games, but because I love certain concepts or design elements of them and like poking about seeing how they work.

Yea i see your point it can be a mind boggling challenge to stack that One stat that your class really needs in GW2 lol customizationa and stats are nil in GW2, So im not sure what you could be tailoring as you eloquently put it..

As far as intelligent mobs .. Its not even close compared to the mobs in AO ....  Lmao those leashing mobs that stand in AOE in GW2 are so challenging .. Give me abreak the game is easy and made to be easy for the casual masses and thats fine but dont spin it to be something else..

I finished my Vanguard playthrough a couple weeks back.

Now i'm largely playing Neocron 2 and Minions of Mirth.

Sometimes I log on my EQ Shadowknight, if I can get a group going, I might play that for the night.

Two friends of mine who were all excited up for GW2 being the best MMO ever have already gone back to Lotro. I have no idea why, as I can't stand that game either.

Well, it's obvious bait, and this is usually where I get in trouble, but I think I can handle myself tonight.

The OP wants to know which games are superior to his beloved GW2? Well, I find it rather hard to quantify "fun", but here is the list of games I've had more "fun" in lately:

STO, DCUO, WoW, T2, D3 and Borderlands 2.

Now then, the question was raised by the OP along the lines of: what about those games, systems-wise, makes them more fun?

To the OP: Go back to the game you find fun and stop worrying about random internet-o-philes such as us and what we think aobut you or your game! Look at my list above; does it look like I care what people think about what I play?

    Grow up!

Hmmm, maybe I was wrong in my first statement.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
