Might try EQ2 (EU player) what is Prosieben?

evemaster00evemaster00 Member Posts: 171

Thinking of trying EQ2 if i can start on a new server. What is Prosieben? I read something about it being new servers under a different company for EU players? I can find no info on this. I'd like to know the following...

Has EQ2 already launched on Prosieben?

When will it launch?

Will there be new servers?

Thanks.

ProSiebenSat.1 / Alaplaya will be handling the EU accounts, and that's basically it. If you don't want to deal with them, make an SOE account BEFORE Planetside 2 launches, and you'll be able to stick with SOE instead. If you wait, you will have to make an PSS1 account, and I really do NOT recommend that.

No matter which publisher you stick with, you will be able to play on whichever server you like. That's right, both PSS1 and SOE gives access to the same servers. I'm pretty sure there won't be any new servers at all. There is a grand total of 16 servers (not counting test + beta), and 15 of them are low pop. That's right, only one isn't, and it's only medium. Check for youself on SOE's server list.

I strongly recommend you make an SOE account now. Imo, PSS1 is the devil in disguise, and I won't have anything to do with them. I recently returned to EQ2, simply because EU players won't be forced to deal with PSS1, as previously announced (again: if, and ONLY if, you make an account before PS2 launches. Why I dislike PSS1 so much? Google is your friend, you'll easily find out why.

Btw, not sure if the PSS1 transition has started yet. I got a mail several weeks ago from SOE saying it will start "soon". After that I haven't heard anything more about it.

As above say, make an account now.

You will like EQ2 it has a vast amount of content and lore no other MMO comes close to the amount of content EQ2 has. I would sub rather than go F2P. You will need some of the expansion to unlock some of the races and classes though.

Antonia Bayle and Freeport are the highest pop servers. AB is a roleplaying server but not all the people rp there. Because it was the server with the highest pop it attracted a lot of people both rpers and non-rpers.

I would recommend Freeport though. It is not so top heavy as AB and there are a lot more new players. People are also more open to socialising/grouping on Freeport, from personal experience. Also Freeport has both a lot of US and EU players as it was the only F2P server when EQ went F2P so everyone rolled on that server.

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

Prosieben / Sat1 are mainly known as TV channels in Germany. They ventured into browser games a while ago already and now it seems they try to get a foot into MMOs?

Dunno if they really are the pure evil as everybody seems to think.

No, that's not correct. RE was merged with Splitpaw in February last year. RE got shut down, and SP lives on.

SP has a great community, but unfortunately, it really shows that it's a low pop server. I have my 10 toons there, and wouldn't consider moving if I got that option.

Btw, I agree with Rimmersman - it's a great game if you sub (gold membership), but I wouldn't bother at all with the F2P version.

AT US primetime all the servers typically go medium and Freeport and AB (and Crushbone I think) go high.  The thing is EQ2 has so many zones not to mention the guild halls that people are spread out everywhere.  Finding a good guild though isnt tough on any server.

As for Prosieben, my guess is they are much ado about nothing.

That is heavily dependent on the search terms employed. You need some idea of what to look for.
