For me at least, a liviing breathing non corridor driven world. So imho unless it is rebuild from the ground up, my answer is due to the investment required to rebuild, there is very little that can actually be done.
Bigger worlds to explore. More interactive worlds, npcs. Some action combat would be nice instead of just button mashing. Better variety of enemies to fight.
Competitive, multiplayer mini-games that don't include the typicical combat scenarios and constant fighting found in every other MMORPG. Freeroam space..
EA should be trying to make this game unique and Star-Wars-like. But they keeps insisting that new content will be a new instanced PVE zone, new PVP instanced zone, dailies, more instanced space combat rails, and/or other rehashes of stuff already in game, "more of the same".
I'd settle if SWTOR had stuff in it that didn't remind me of WoW...
IMO its a good game, but it could use the following:
1. Better Character customization
2. Xwing vs Tie fighter style Space combat
3. all worlds open pvp after Dromund Kass and Corusant with bonuses to boot and extreme penalties for lowbie ganking.
4, More planets to discover
5. Allow force users to use any kind of lightsaber
6 Divergant stories for your character that arent part your storyline or planet's.
This is just off top of my head.
All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care. Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
Ditch out going for a generic game and pushing for something original. I don't get why they didn't get it from SWG when they tried to make it more generic that people found the changes lack luster, yet they went about making it generic. If it tried pushing elements from Kotor in, it would of likely had maybe a smaller initial audience, but it would of likely kept far more players as well.
It seemed to focus on being 'the same as everyone else' instead of trying to be its own thing which would of made the game a much stronger competitor.

But this answer hasn't:
It needs a complete remake. With me at its lead for I would push the game to be one for the players, not for investor's pockets as I believe that will come if the product is good. Not quite a match for EA's business model though.
Boycotting EA. Why? They suck, even moreso since 2008.

It would be a great idea except that as far as I see no two players can ever agree what they would actually want in game... see SWTOR forums. I know I know... you all want a combination of TOR and SWG - hmmm how about making a big merge of two companies SOE buys EA or viceversa... LOL
Btw I tried SWG but it was meh... but it's my opinion

What they need is one thing right now... more content, more content and again regularly coming content. Side minigames.
They can't change game mechanics nor engine. So please stop mentioning it as it's just trolling.
But they can add a lot of interesting content for people to come back.
Majority of players stopped to play because they ran out of stuff to do and they were not altoholics like I am... Sure lot left because that was not the game they expected, but the biggest problem was fresh content.
Bioware underestimated abilities of players to run through content... and they did not have anything ready to push in...

I left because I refuse to pay a sub just to level alts. I also didn't like PVP much and refused to sit in the fleet waiting for a group. A group finder was needed on release.
Their F2P model will make me feel like I got my moneys worth on the box price. At least until I want to use the side action bars which I also wouldn't pay for.
Originally posted by fenistil They would have to rewrite whole game from ground up, basically making new game to achieve that. So impossible.
i don't think so, i love this game but only i wanted to know what the people want to
I just said my subjective opinion about the matter. For me biggest problem of Swtor was that it did not felt like an mmorpg.
It felt like some sort of bizzare framawork where people were playing their single player games and could jump in and some some instances / arenas. Of course I have similar problem with many current mmorpg's but in Swtor's this seemed like it was taken even further and feel of not being an what I personally consider an mmorpg was even stronger.
So for me it was not thing between being "good" or "bad" mmorpg, but between being "an mmoprg" and being "online single player rpg with some multiplayer options".
It is not bad thing. It is just not my thing and I was bit confused by how mmorpg was taken out and how much single was brough in.
Anyway. I don't think that trying to drastically change Swtor will do any good. It is good that you like this game and I wish you having great fun with it in future. This topic just blipped for me on "current forum activity" and interested me enough to write a reply.

Mass Effect / Jade Empire style gameplay and PVP more akin to open world Star Wars Battlefront 2 (space battles included).
It could play like Tabula Rasa with a tighter camera and locking system (so you aren't shooting/swinging at something to the left of you).
Would have much preferred that. But this is just personal preference on what would make it a good game for me.
EDIT: Yeah, environments that you aren't just sprinting through quest chains for would have helped liven things up a bit too.
Or what shaky said, effectively a different game.

To Be rebuilt from the ground up.
- Game is too instanced.
- Sterile game world.
- Story as a Primary focus of the game does not work & has no longevity.
- Combat is uninteresting.
- Space combat is on rails garbage.
- The whole game feels like you are stuck on rails, they touted exploration but theres a few side paths and that is all. No real exploration.
That's because everyone with the talent to design new stuff and put in original ideas have left, both bioware and mythic.
All that is left is marketing drones like Jeff hickman.

Over 2m players have agreed what they don't want.
1) Massively multiplayer fleet based space combat
2) Very immersive and vast planets and cities with lots of NPC/nature activity and sounds
3) Alternate leveling paths - no more single paths with some class quests on the side. that doesn't cut it.
4) Fully customizable end game gear - no more being stuck looking like a goof
5) Fun little KOTOR content like pazaak and swoop racing
For me #1 alone could be enough to get me to subscribe. I just have zero faith that BW/EA can get it right.

They need to get rid of exhaustion zones, invisible walls, and the red n green phase force fields. Game is way too barricaded.
