6 months or so playing before an actual retail ?

jenanglessjenangless Member Posts: 49

This 6 months or so playing before an actual retail is going to be bad in the end.

By the time they hit commercial (if they make it that far) everyone is going to be burnt out on the game and simply move on to the new ones by than. 6 months is the average holding rate of a half decent mmorpg. People will be paying a very reduced fee to play, right? They will be so used to it and than they will be slapped with full commercial rates after all those months...  It would be even worse if they gave the access completely for free..

lol are you serious? do you actually know whats going on with sog? do you even know what its about?

try reading up on sog a bit and you will find that its not the full version of the game.

actually its only 2 kingdom's (at the start at least)

and to sugest that the only people that will ever play the finished game will all be in beta is funny....your a brite one thats for sure ::::12::

yep all games should shut down their beta right now because people will get burnt on it before release......LOL comedy

read this http://www.vanguardsoh.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1044304#post1044304 then come back and talk to me about the vanguard/soe fiasco.....

I disagree, for what they say you will be able to do in the game I personally will play for more than 6 months. They say its a strenuous stress test and they are making it free to see if the can handle the load, right? They stress that players or guilds, or which ever will be able to control reigons of the actually game world. To hear that is a big boost and intrest. No to mention that the graphics aren't too shabby.

You are looking at it all wrong 6 months maybe be shorter than you think it is long, and who knows they may but it out ealier ithan they hoped.image

Ah and off you go complaining about another thing instead of reading first. THis is in practice an open beta. How many ppl tested WoW for months and still went and bought it to continue playing??? I dont remember exactly how long the beta was but it was something in that ballpark atleast for most people.
Please go read up on what SoG really is and then come post here again.

PS. Why keep changing nicks, its already been proven who you are.

Serioulsy, do some reading, then give it a thought or two... compare to other mmorpgs, do some more thinking and, then, post here again.

I'm just going to point out one thing for you: DnL will vastly improve SoG, and not only by pure geographic size...

Hey this will give the game a fair and open chance to succeed or fall flat on it's butt. No more hype, no more BS, no more unsubstantiated flames. I hope it succeeds myself, but time will tell I guess.

    I miss DAoC

sutter, it wasnt the release date. They said that that was the tentive date when the world would come online. We speclated and came to the conclusion that since they specify release, then it would involve something like an open beta. And sure enough here it is.

MMORPG tends to do an estimation on when games will be released. For a while there they had City of Villians being released on 12/1/05 when the real release date was 10/30/05. Same goes with Irth online. The creators of Irth had said the game would be released when it was ready but MMORPG.com showed the game would be released on 10/1/05. Just because MMORPG.com says that it is suppose to release doesn't mean it is going to be.

I cant wait to get into SoG if I can get a key. I will be happy to see what i am infor in to april release.

And I have no clue why some one would say the standing time for a good MMO is 6 months. How could one get burned out on a game that is one step above Beta one step from Release. I love the fact we get to help Mold the game itself just by playing SoG.

SO GL to all those that are looking to get there hands on a SoG key.

  • HatokHatok Member Posts: 10

There are no SoG keys, SoG is availible to everyone.

The keys you are talking about are D&L pre-order keys, there are a limited number of them, that is the pre-order of Dark and Light, being released in April '06.

But SoG is availible to everyone, it says this in the Answers to Settlers of Ganareth thread in the general forum.

One dead man, a tragedy. One-million dead men, a statistic.

I doubt there will be a limited number of pre-order keys (or if there is it will be a big number). Why would they refuse to take peoples money when they plan on letting everyone play a game for free for 6 months!

wow jenangless disappears for a few weeks while this other person turkeybound says the same thing. And now that turkeybound was getting his arse handed to him by the loving fans of DnL and those of the nuetral party he must fall back to one of his older names to keep the trolling alive.

    Just stop while your ahead.

Let me sugest this site http://www.darkandlight.net/. It is for sure the one with most reliable informations very very few but despite the 3 delays I would guess they are first to anounce new dates.
