New realm/server?

Hi all

I am getting a computer and internet shortly thereafter at around christmas, and I want to start playing a mmorpg, i really like the look of WOW because it seems like you have something to do (in contrast to many other games that seem to be just dirt and mountains so you can walk for hours) But before I join a game I want to be sure that I don't start behind. So I wondered if WOW will start a new server from the buttom at around january 1st. Is it even plausible?

If not what game should I look for that resembles WOW (maybe a bit more advanced)

    Yeah, a new server at Christmas/ January sounds about right.
    But any high population server such as Bleeding Hollow, Archimonde, or Warsong will always have ALOT of lowbies/ newbies starting out, whether it is a brand new character or people just rerolling.

    Edit: Speak of the devil, three new servers came out just as I was logging in.

    There will be a wow expansion released soon(probably dec) if i was you i would wait till it is released. There will most likely be new servers added at the same time.

    I'm in warsong.  If you join warsong, go horde because horde needs a lot of help there.

    It seems the new expansion of WOW will be comming out in litle more than a week... not in december.

    Just wanted to know how sure I can be that there will be starting a brand new server/realm without character transfer around januar? I mean has this happened regularly or are the three new servers just added a special occasion???

    no, they are testing it in about a week and announcing the features.
    well, announcing the features that the hacker hasnt announced for them ::::02::
    oh, and horde wont be needing anymore help in a few more months ::::17::
