i'm enjoying it too... even though i only have one level 50 i feel it adds a lot to the plate.
as a rogue i enjoy the very versatile tactician. its ailities are very hard to put into a master-macro (my main problem with rogues thus far in rift was that they could often be boiled down to "push your spam macro 5x then push your finisher macro")
i agree with the OP; it looks like it's gonna set the bar.
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.
Currently Playing EVE, ESO
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed.
i agree with the OP; it looks like it's gonna set the bar.
kinda doubt that, sorry ^^
erm, you cnt really doubt it lol, it already has set the bar, there isnt a single expansion for any themepark mmo that has been as good as storm legion is, in terms of what ithas added to the game in recent years. even MOP fails in comparison.
Thought about going back but to me it isn't worth it. Trions version of a bard is just piss poor. That was a big disappointment. I would play a bard over any class on any game any day. If the bard was decent I would play but the lack of having instruments as weapons and how slow they move is just sad. Maybe if it was reworked I would come back but glad you all are enjoying it.
As much as i dislike Rift and what it stands for, you cant ignore this huge exp and what there bringing to the table. Its a massive endever to say the least. Grats to Trion for putting thier cards out on the table.
Never liked Rift all that much but credit is due where it is deserved, you can not take anything from Trion.
The amount of content and features packed into one expansion by a company that has a game I would consider niche should make Blizzard absolutely ashamed with themselves.
I will also add that i have been quitely suprised by this expansion. While i have not been able to play it alot. What i have has been very enjoyable. Good job Trion!
How they managed to pull off this expansion with it's sheer enourmous size and still be able to push out alot of major patches pre-expansion is beyond me, lovig the expansion so far..and Tempest Bay is one of the greatest citys ive step foot in on a mmorpg.
Its not going to convert anyone and grow the population by any significant amount, but if you like Riift you will LOVE Storm legion. Best MMO expansion since Echoes of Faydwer.
I don't play for power sessions anymore. 1-2 hrs at a time, But I keep going back in after short breaks. This is well done. Really feels like a war zone.
What Storm Legion adds to Rift reminds me of what Jump to Lightspeed added to SWG. Dimensions and Hunt Rifts add another way to play the game that is completely removed from dungeons raids and pvp.
Originally posted by DavisFlight It just added more of the same, and since the same was already bad...
No, it added a whole new games worth of content and slapped it on top of an existing game. It seriously could have been released as a brand new and seperate MMO and it would have been viable. Your last bit..? Subjective and your lose imo.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
OK so I love healing/ranged DPS on my Resto/Elemental Shaman in WoW - but I'm so sick of WoW and actually really like a lot of the things RIFT is doing -
What's a good comparible class/soul selection to both Elemental and Resto shaman from WoW?
Oh, and for the solo'ing/leveling up part I love a class that can do good DPS and self heal - preferably in melee range... I like melee when leveling and ranged/healing for dungeons/end-game.
And I hate hate hate pet classes.
I'm guessing Cleric will be my class of choice, probably Shaman for melee DPS with some sort of 2nd soul for healing...
Then a build for ranged DPS and healing... hmmm.... too bad all the elemental lightning stuff is in the Mage class.
How viable is the Chloromancer as a healer?
With the new soul (melee dps) that might be my build...

Go with cleric. You won't be disappointed. best solo class can do pretty much anything.
And yes this expansion is the best expansion for any MMO in recent years. Love it.

Harbinger/Chloro from what i hear is the new indestructable levelling class. Mage might be what he would enjoy best.

A Harbinger combination that includes the Chloromancer soul and either Pyro or Stormcaller. Pyro or Stormcaller don't have pets. A heavy Chloro is an awesome healer, a little bit into Choloro (about 8 points) can be a viable offhealer with most of it being automatic.
Shaman paired with Justicar is a good melee self healer and one of the most popular cleric solo combos in the game. Look for the Duracell 1.11 build on the official Clerics Guide forums.. it's a step by step build and it's works out pretty good.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

If you like Rift, youll love SL
If you dont like Rift, you wont.
For its target audience, its fantastic and you cant really deny that. It wont make my top 5 favorite expansion list of the last 5 years, but that doesnt mean its not one of the best.
Have they changed their approach in regards to their mega-streamlined hub to hub questing/leveling?
Can rangers tame pets by now?
What about mob diversity allover the new zones?
Questing is still a big part of Rift game design so i don't know why would they change it. But they did add a lot of new open world events with new expansion. This expansion focuses more on open world game than dungeons and instances.
Animations were fine for me and performance wise my fram rates were decent even during large events.

I'll be the first to admit - more Races, different starting areas, and better animations would be great. I resubbed yesterday and am enjoying it very much - as for "their approach in regards to their mega-streamlined hub to hub questing/leveling"....They have changed. The instant adventure tool is awesome, I don't have a lot of experience with it but it isn't questing/LFD/warfronts. I guess it creates a zone wide chain of events/goals that you move through prgressively with your party or a random party.
I really think rangers taming pets is a personal preference.

Instant adventures is a semi-random collection of kill tasks and reused quests and named mob kills. They throw in the occasional AWFUL escort sometimes. typically its kill x mobs, click y things, kill z mobs, boss, warp somewhere else and rinse/repeat. it isnt a progression, just a random pool of stuff. I have yet to meet someone who enjoys doing it more than 15 minutes at a time.
It is a form of grind levelling in a way though, its by far the fastest way to level 1-50, not sure about 51-60
They've acknowleged lag and said they are working on it.
Animations?
No change
Added races?
No change

No change

Yes, big change here, while there are a few NPCs scattered about that will give quests, the majority of questing is picked up and turned in on the fly. Very well done approach to removing quest hubs.
Can rangers tame pets by now?
No change
What about mob diversity allover the new zones?
If I understand what you are asking, then yes, there is more diversity.
Dont mean to highjack the thread, but if someone could possibly explain the change as to how mob tabbing now works in SL? I read somewhere that Trion changed something about it.
