FYI to those new to Star Wars, The Old Republic.
Bioware never, and I mean NEVER, comes close to their predicted downtimes. They are always hours, sometimes hours and hours over.
So, yes, it's now past 1pm EST when they said the servers would be up. I haven't even checked it, and I can tell you that if you log on now it will show it's down.
I will try when I get home from work tonight, and I'm hoping that by at least 6pm EST they will have it up and running, but I'm not holding my breath.

Varthander, no, I haven't checked it. (At work, actually) However, look at the time of this post, and try to log on.
What? Not up? Shock!
Seriously, they miss these things by hours. I wasn't kidding when I said that I hoped it would be up by 6 pm EST when I get home, that's how bad they are at updates.
Plus the downtime tomorrow to try and deal with the bugs and crap they missed with the minimal staff they have left working on the game.
well not up yet at 18:30 gmt and no sign of anything happening usally the forums come back up before the servers they are still down
Expect massive lag as usual after update.
It was worst MMO launch ever. Same probably will happen today.

I noticed a lot of their web content was down for maintenance too.
I didn't have too much trouble at launch though. There were queues, but they weren't too long. However, that would be a good thing...more people in the game.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
That's unfortunate to hear. As I recall in the early months, their downtimes weren't always as long as they were telling us. It was a delight. It wasn't always the case, but more often then not it was.
To hear that it's changed so much is disheartening.
I guess they'd better get something like this right. This is an important milestone for the game.
Today’s server maintenance has been extended with no ETA. We will update as soon as we have more info. Thank you for your patience.
via twitter 15m ago so yeah keep waiting
worst launch ever? hardly.
SW:TOR was your first MMO wasn't it?
This was the same reason i hated Tuesdays while playing World of Warcraft. It was practically a guarentee the servers would not come up "on time."

No it wasnt. Lineage was. Since then i played number of MMOs. And dont remember any with worst experience at launch. Maybe u can enlighten me the worst the SWtor?

Anarchy Online had the worst launch ever... by far.
Game was unplayble due to lag and crashes. Took them months to straighten it out. By the time they did, everyone left.
Too bad, it was, (still is), a really fantastic MMO with lots of fresh, (for its time) ideas.
Swtor had a VERY smooth launch in comparison... but, and this is a big but, , they waited too long to merge servers when they started to lose subs. Within 2 months most servers were ghost towns, which led to more cancelations, and so on and so on...
If they had been agressive with server merges, I am confident in saying the game would probably have at least double the number of subs it has now.
Oh, btw, Mnwild, the reason I posted this was so that new people wanting to try SWTOR wouldn't give up trying. Us vets know how bad ...really really bad.. the crew they have is at managing updates, so more of an FYI to newbies. I think someone needs a nap.
well they keep sending me a nice mail saying i will get 100 CCoins as a valued customer... I sent a mail back asking if i could get the other 1200... My guess is... No.
I have four of those mail now and i wonder how many i will have by the time they go back online
This have been a good conversation
lol of course EAware decided to make a new prerendered video with lower quality just because the game went free to play.
Never played it. So can tell. From my experience its SWtor.
All will be judged when servers go online. From my 5 month experience with SWtor i dont expect much.

Yeah sure Anarchy Online, AOC and GW 2 (i couldn't log in for 4 days due to broken log in). Experinceof players may vary but SWTOR was hardly the worst.
It seems at every crucial point the game ever had, their website was not functioning properly. This is no exception.
Same old, same old.

I'm sorry, but you're either a hater, or an idiot. While no MMO launch is perfect, SWTOR was far....FAAAAAAR from the 'worst ever'. Look at WoW, only MOP had a decent release. Hell, back in classic major patches alone would knock the servers down for a week.

WoW, DCU online, star wars: the old republic, city of heroes, city of villains, everquest, plenty more I'm probably forgetting or aren't worth noting.
Of course it's down, they're doing maintenance.
