    Only 3rd for ranged.

Thats sad and IMO lazy development.  Now I dont begrudge someone's like of certain perspectives in a video game, but if you're going to go with a character viewpoint (over say side scrolling or isometric) then there is nothing wrong with having 2 different perspectives (first & third) for all combat types.  In fact it is why I loved Skyrim so much, because unlike it predecessors it actually was somewhat viable to play in 3rd person.  ( I only used 1st person while looking for items or looting).  My opinion only though.

As for the video, I must say it does look like they have come along way from the original's combat animations so they might get me to try it based on this initial video.

It was not "lazy" but intentional in DF1.  ranged attackers were forced into 1st person to keep represent the "focus" needed to target etc.  If you equiped a melee weapon you changed to thrid person to give greater situational awareness.  It allowed people to sneak up on archers and casters etc.  I loved the idea.

The one gameplay video showed an archer in 3rd person though so who knows what they did this time.  I liked the old system.  It was a design choice though.

animations may not be great but if I were in a huge fight with someone I think I'd be more focused on not dying rather than the animations

    I see bunny-hopping and blind windmilling--just like what you'd see in a real fight...between 3rd-grade pansies.

I'm sorry, but this game looks abysmal. Look at the graphics and combat... Do people actually think that that looks good?!

I'm sure you have done some WvWvW in GW2.

Can you imagine the lag if we had our 200 vs 200 seiges in Darkfall with GW2's graphics?

What you see in this video is the compromise that allows a full loot pvp seige based game to be playble.

    Bring it on.

Playing: Darkfall New Dawn (and planning to play Fallout 76)
Favourite games have included: UO, Lineage2, Darkfall, Lotro, Baldur's Gate, SSX, FF7 and yes the original Wizardry on an Apple IIe

It was  a really bad put together video, but I liked the graphics change and also the combat seems a lot more fluid.  I like the UI and the third person view.  Definitly will check it out when its released.
