gladly.
ask yourselves. in your normal MMO experience, what do you get?
thats right competion.
and while this can bring a certin amount of fun, if your the immature type that must feel superior toothers in order to have fun.
but while it is healthy for a certin level of competition in any game, look at it this way.
i think we can all agree that too much competition can bring on arguments, and drive people away, instead of making friends and interacting with them on a social level, which, in the end, is what MMO's are designed for.
i mean cmon, if i dint wanna interact with people i would pop in FF7 and not worry bout monthly fees
therefor, couldn't we agree that the ideal MMO isn't one that is based on PVP competition but on player cooperation? working together with one or more people from a variety of places and backgrounds, bringing people together that would otherwise never speak in there life?
thats FFXI.
so if your looking for a more social game, or just want an experience different from the norm MMO, FFXI is the game for you
if you disagree with this i would be happy and more than willing to hear out your opinion on the matter.
but thanks for your time, and i hope this post helped someone.

Not enough people highlight the importance of the story in Final Fantasy Xi. It's the only MMORPG with a story that you follow and feel a part of. The cutscenes and way the story evolves makes you feel you are part of Vana'Diel and a big player in its future, you just don't get that in other games. Yeh, so there is lore surrounding each one but this is FINAL FANTASY eleven lol, kings of fantasy story.
I can't give much justice into the story the devs have made for this game but it is astounding, there are so many plot twists and things to learn about the world. Yes, FFXi like all mmorpgs involves leveling (grinding) but along side the levels you make you will take part in missions* and quests to unlock the secrets of the world. It's very clever how they slowly reveal information to you. The first month you play the game you will notice certain parts or elements of the world and disregard them. Then, when you've done more missions you'll stop and think "ah...so THATS what its for" or "oh i never knew he was that guy", basically unlearning what you already know and opening your eyes to the greater perspective.
The third expansion is already on its way and the story of Vana'Diel which already spans tens of thousands of years will continue in (hopefully) another spellbinding tangent, I look forward to seeing what they'll lay on us next. ^^
*Missions- like epic quests that usually consist of lore-packed cutscenes along side difficult and unique battles that need to be won in order to advance your rank or unlock new areas or give you rewards.
