I'm thinking about resubbing recently They are really trying to make this game better nowdays

You are thinking about resubbing because they are removing a ftp restriction? That doesn't make much sense.
Removing the blue item restriction is a step in the right direction though. The main reason I uninstalled the ftp VG almost instantly was because all my items got knocked off my characters as soon as I logged in. Now.. when they remove the yellow item restrictions I'll install it again.
Which is totally untrue.
All yellow, red,.. any items you had before the FTP transition remained on you and were unlocked for the future.
REALITY CHECK
No, they weren't. When ftp launched that did not happen. Maybe I'm wrong about the knocked off me bit.. but if you took them off and tried to put them back on, you couldn't.
Oh and the poster above that said items were knocked off his character must have been playing a different game.
In my case - I logged in with my lvl 35 druid, I have 3 yellow items on him, item description says :
"Gold membership item - UNLOCKED"
I can take it off and put it back on, no problem.
I'm thinking about resubbing not only becouse blue item restrictions change for F2P.
I said I'm recently thinking about it, coz of all good things that happened.
Bug fixes, game mechanics adjustments, class changes [my druid changed big time now], content patch released 2 days ago , and even if my druid is only lvl 35 and City of Brass is out of my reach for now - I feel like I want to support this game again. Before, it looked like they could shut this game down at any moment. Now they made me believe that Vanguard will stay here for a long time, with updates, patches and who knows, maybe even Xpack at some point
I played Vanguard for 3 months before. Got to lvl 35. Have 3 yellow items. Call me casual.
In this new F2P model, after next update all of that would cost me 1.50 eur to unlock 3 items.
1.50 for 3 months of FUN!!
I know I will play more in december, and probably run some dungeons and stuff, so sub may get handy then
My paladin was level 50 in full swamp armor and a few APW pieces when I left.. I left a few months before the level cap increase.
right now I'm enjoying GW2 and have an Active TERA account that expires at the end of this month. I'm thinking of resubbing .to Vanguard/station full access at that time.
If you are talking about 55s ths doesnt even apply, if you are 55 you should be subbing.
f2p is designed around new people, and new people really wont see higher than blue for a long time. This actually makes sense because by the time they start seeing yellow gear come in they might think 'ok, i like this game enough, im going to sub'. Thats the way the system is designed, its not designed for people at max level to play for free.

I was back checking out Vanguard again recently. After a death, one of my high end items ended up becoming locked. Emailed them when I left game, and by the next day they had fixed the issue, and apologized, saying it was bug whose fix was coming in the next patch. Very positive experiance for me. Still think that you should be able to use any of the story rewards you get though.
Interestingly, the player made equipment was way better....
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
Although I can overlook some things in the cash shops for most of these "Free" to play games....I agree whole-heartedly with your statement. I've always said that the only way to truly have a free game with a cash shop that will satisfy all ..is to sell players things they want. Mainly anything to customize avatars...statless gear(moddable perhaps)..pets...trinkets with special emotes or actions...housing stuff...weapon skins...mounts that are no faster than mounts in the game (scalable or only as fast as the players fastest mount..which is a common restriction). You could still offer discounted "grab-bags" like SWTOR cartel packs. Ive enjoyed those because of the cool speeder and cool trinkets...like one that makes my eyes glow red. Maybe even offer all the items you can possibly get in the "grab-bags" to be attainable in the store as a separate purchase. The grab bags would just be a cheaper alternative to get a bunch of stuff at once.
Fill cash shops with stuff that we figuratively can't live without because it's so "cool" ..or helps round out customiztion. Don't fill the shops up with stuff we literally need to play the game.
I think its 100% okay for f2p to have things you need, and in VGs case its 'things you dont need until high levels'
It is NOT okay for subscriptions to have such items. VG's subscription does not.
I agree vanguard has a p2p model that unlocks everything. If you want access to all the game has stop playing a free demo. Same is true with any f2p demo
If people only want to play games that are totally free - then be a socialist or communist already, for a star trek like society where money either doesnt exist (well, at least Roddenberry wanted it this way, originally, the script authors had trouble to follow through, though) or its distributed in a kind of equal way to everyone, no matter your job.
But as long as we're living in a capitalist economy, companies have to produce profit for their services.
Open source works in capitalism only because you can still sell open source, and sell services for open source.
I do not agree at all that the shop contains things that you literally need. Maybe, just maybe at level 55 when you are raiding you "need" to spend some money. But I don't see how anyone could argue playing to the end, and doing end game content paying nothing is fine and the way it should be.
I'd rather have everything open to me, and have some restricttions gearwise, than having to buy dungeons
aids and what not. I understand people see things differently, but I just cannot understand why you would prefer to pay for content instead.
I've recently unsubscribed to the game. I've tried several events to get back in with my guild. Doing level 20's 30's 40's and even 50's dungeons / quests. No one was even interested. Tried looking for groups outside of the guild gave me the same results. I will not play it again with its F2P version.
The only F2P model that will get me back to play would be Aion's. No restriction whatsoever, play the game as if you're a subscriber. That's the best F2P model yet.
While the F2P restrictions can be off-putting, I do agree about the subscriptions. Once you sub in a SoE game there is nothing you need from the stores.
F2P players CAN play all the way to max level without paying a single $. Unlock Potions from the cash shop are TRADEABLE, they can already be purchased for IN GAME currency if you look on the broker or ask in trade you can easily get them for a few gold.
I have 3 accounts 1 of which is F2P and will always stay F2P. If I win a nice raid item, I just spend some time gathering up some in game currency and then purchasing an unlock potion from another player.
There is nothing 'needed' from the cash shop, there is no 'need' to spend money if you don't want to. Just do some research before posting untruths.
Hey thats nice.
Also, I finally found a use for all the (shop) money I get now from having a normal subscription lol.
you are right - and restaurants and shops should give basic food for free, you should get paid w/o having to go to work, everyone should get a free house .....
