Free Traditional Style RPGs

Anyone know of any good traditional style, RPGs and/or MMORPGs for free? If you don't know what traditional it, it is also sometimes called old, classic, or Japanese. Some examples are Dragon Warrior or Breath of Fire, and I think atleast the earlier Final Fantasy games (I've not played anything beyond Final Fantasy 1 and 2, but those are traditional). So if you know of any please tell me. 2D graphics perfered. (I don't like 3D online, just too slow, and on traditional 3D is just superfluous.)

Thanks :)

Only ones I can think of are Rubies of Eventide, Doofus, and The Realm Online. And yes, you guys can say all the good games you want but he's talking simply of taking turns fighting.

Oops, didn't notice you say free on the topic.. Umm.. only RoE is free but that's 3d so if you're looking for 'traditional' but '2d' you're out of luck, I'm afraid.

You can find alot of 2d isometric mmo's lying around the net, and most of them are free.  Try sites like ogaming.net.  I think thats the address; but you should probably google for it.  They have a listing of all the free active mmo's, trials, and beta's.  There are usually sites that list them on the first page of a google search if you type in Open Beta.

The problem is most of these games lack the gameplay elements of traditional RPG's.  Mini-games, quests, storyline, and split screen combat.

I couldn't find a site with a similar name with lists of free RPGs...

    Cannibalistic cows eat cows.
    Cannibalistic people eat people.
    Cannibalistic cannibals eat cannibals.
    So why are there cannibals?

Ok, how about your standard, console-style RPGs like his question mostly pertained to?

Sorry, dude, but I don't really know of any... I'll be watching this thread, though, since it interests me as well.

(Edit: I found something called "Ahriman's Prophecy" on my computer. If it is what I think I remember it being, it was an rpg I found on, like, download.com, or something. Might be kind of like what you're looking for... maybe.)
