looks like end of eq2

BerndrBerndr Member Posts: 185

If you ask me is eq2  a good game? , i will say yes, and the best one out there ,,,,

and i am playing it only because there is nothing better .......

in my guild was over 120 people when we started , now we are down on 5-8 active players .

Why? because game is :

1) getting boring not moving anywhere ,,

2) harder to play in bad way , with intrudiction of all this elite creatures , solo players just cant do anything anymoe and game has become imposible to play,,,

lets say i am a night person i like to play between 2 am -5am ,, in that time servers is empty there is noone to group ,,, and almost all creatures are elite and solo non-friendly so what do u do ?

you cant play = you cancell your account

Ok when i say game is not moving anywhere what i mean ,,, there is not a story to keep us interested .

its not story driven , i dont consider an Npc saying ( ''i lost my pelts , please kill 20 dears for me'' )a story its a barely a poor exuse for the quest.

traying to say no mattar what we do we have no influance on the world

it does not mattar how mant gnolls we kil they will be always there

all npc  will keep asking the same things etc ,,, 3-5 years ago that would have been great game, but nowdays its not good enough..

you need real events u need some big things to happen in the world and affect us all

comon instances are good foe epic events .

you can easyly make a instance of antonica with all gnools gone for some reason or instance of antonica in which windstalker village has been ruined and destrayed by gnolls or instance of thandering stepes where we all need to defend that bridge or it gets taken by undeads ,,

instances could be used to tell the story and make big epic events but no-one seem to use them properly

For the moment, I agree with you here.
and i am playing it only because there is nothing better .......
    yea, same here.

I disagree, it's only gotten better with time. SOE just took too damn long to get the game to the state it's in now.
    2) harder to play in bad way , with intrudiction of all this elite creatures , solo players just cant do anything anymoe and game has become imposible to play,,,
You haven't looked very hard. Solo and group solo encounter are everywhere.
lets say i am a night person i like to play between 2 am -5am ,, in that time servers is empty there is noone to group ,,, and almost all creatures are elite and solo non-friendly so what do u do ?
Ya, lvl 45 in 7 days played time solo 99% of the way. I hardly call that solo friendly.

Well, when a game puts in 10,000 + quests it makes it hard to keep every single on of them backstory driven.
traying to say no mattar what we do we have no influance on the world
Not many games do at the moment unfortunately.
it does not mattar how mant gnolls we kil they will be always there
How would you solve this issue found in every MMO ever made?
all npc  will keep asking the same things etc ,,, 3-5 years ago that would have been great game, but nowdays its not good enough..

I agree here, more live events are needed.

Like FFXI, that would be a good idea...I love FFXI's quest system.

Bottm line Berndr. You are just another in the endless line of people that quit playing EQ2 after the revamp because "it's too hard". This game may be more of a challenge now, but it is still REALLY damn easy.

can't find solo mobs? lol...ya right.

Maybe your guild fell apart because it sucked? Thats the only reason a guild/clan desolves is due to bad leadership.

EQ2 is growing m8, look at the numbers.

Since I just started back in EQ2 my chars aren't high level enough to get a good view on how good EQ2 really is.  I only have a 13 gnome sorcerer as my main plus a couple alts.  However, I'll say this about the soloability of EQ2.  From what I've seen the only place you really need a group is taking on heroic level mobs, like Rotweed in Oakmyst Forest.  I'm sure there will be more areas where you'll need to have friends with you later on in the game, but hey, this is an MMORPG, and last I checked the second M means Multiplayer, which should entitle there be some elements in the game where grouping is required.  If you don't agree then feel free to go back to playing Fable or Morrowind(SP?).  The bulk of the xp I've attained thus far though has been from solo efforts, perhaps too much?  I'm looking forward to the more group oriented missions later on.

So your blaming a play time of 2-5 AM on not being able to find a group? You do realize that the majority of America (or where ever you live) is asleep at 2-5 AM respective to their time zones.

Bit presumptious in your thread title.  I doubt its the end of EQ2 anytime soon.

Also there aint no problem with the revamped mobs just because there are alot more heroics now.  Im still soloing and almost about to hit lvl 45.  So you have to look harder for the solo mobs, they are there you just give up too easy.

To be quite honest, no one on this site but you is putting the eq2 community in a positive light nihilanth. Just take a glimpse at the replies in this thread. Weve all seen it before and im sure well see it in the future. Someone sharing their heartfelt opinions only to be belittled and mocked.

Im a night person too.  I spending all my time on the workdays playing the same hours as you do.  It is a real pain because you have a harder time getting into a group.  I often hunt solo most of that time, other times I meet people (mostly chinese) who are playing late hours and hunt with them.  Yes some of the chinese are very friendly and they dont mind hunting with you or doing quests.  I very commonly group during the weekends when everyone who are awake in the afternoons and evenings.

I dont know what class you are, but some classes have a much better time soloing then most.  Caster classes are the best classes to solo, they could kill very quickly gaining large amount of exp.  Duoing with casters with solo mobs is probably your best bet if you want to get lots of exp quickly.  Another is look for small groups, 3-4 people one tank, one dp and one healer then go kill something that is blue to yellow to you.

Right now I am level 58 Shadowknight,  Ive spent most of my time playing at night and still did some decent exp and sometimes leveled.

Have played: CoH, DDO EQ2, FFXI, L2, HZ, SoR, and WW2 online

I wish they would just end EQ2 and start over with something new, but as long as ppl keep throwing their money at SOE, then Sony will keep feeding the public worthless MMO's like EQ2.

I've played this game off and on for the past year, and it hasn't gotten any better...I guess the general populous loves sub-par MMOs.

Why can't people just go play the games that make them happy and stop being so anal about other titles and what other people play?  Honestly, it's not like we're spending your pocket change allowance to pay for our enjoyment.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, especially ppl who have played EQ for 5+ years, SWG for 2+ years, and waited in line to purchase EQ2 last year hoping that it would be as great, if not greater than EverQuest was...just to be let down by it's mediocrity.

I'm not telling anyone how to spend their hard earned cash, I'm just stating how disappointed I was that SOE couldn't bring the magic and fun that the original EQ brought when it was first released 6 years ago.

Game forums don't exist  for positive feedback only, they are supposed to include negative feedback equally. When someone who is unfamiliar with a product reads these forums, they should be allowed to filter thru both types of posts, otherwise they are done a disservice.

Everyone is allowed and encouraged to counter statements on either side without personal attacks and hopefully will do so providing examples and listing specifics. If I read a forum and see nothing but positive comments on a game, then it makes me suspicious that some creative moderation is being applied, since everyone likes and wants different things from their games.

And no company ever will. The poor souls over at Sigil(ie the original EQ dev team) are going to be crucified when Vanguard hits the shelves. Even if the game is good, and gives you a reach around while you play, people will blast it. Why? Because it doesn't "bring back the magic".

Guess what. You'll never get quite the same feel from any other MMO, as you did from EQ(assuming it was your first). Much like sex, though you'll play better games, none will ever be quite like the first.

So as much as I want to see SOE, or more precisely, Smed, burn in a MMO fire, bashing EQ2, or any game for that matter, for not taking you back to Memory Lane, is pretty disingenous.

Actually I played EQ1 from Beta phase 2 until a bit over a year ago when I finally stopped logging in (haven't been back since)

I didn't buy EQ2 at release because I was in it's beta and didn't feel it was ready. As with ALL MMO's today I will not buy a game at release. Ever. They never live up to their promises. I waited about 6 months and bought it in May timeframe. It still wasn't quite there but it was MUCH better than in beta/at release and showed constant improvement. Now, since the CU hit. As a true vet of EQ1 and having played just about every single major (and minor) MMO I could get my fingers into I can honestly say that EQ2 is not only as good as EQ1 was, it's better. In so many ways.

That's *my* opinion though. The problem with making a comment about how *fun* a game is is that it's SUBJECTIVE. What one person loves another will hate. That is just the nature of the beast. I loved EQ but hated many things about it. In EQ2 most of the things that I loved are still there and most of the things that I hated are gone. None of the things that I loved are gone and more have been added. Thus, to me anyway, EQ2 is a much better game than EQ1 was.

If it wasn't I wouldn't be playing it. It's just that simple. I won't pay for a game that I don't enjoy. Period.

And several people have said it very well:
Right now EQ2 is the single best Fantasy MMORPG on the market.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.
    Sig image Pending
    Still in: A couple Betas

True enough.  No game, not SWG, not EQ2, not even WoW has managed to live up to my hopes and deliver on giving the experience that I got from EQLive.  I have no doubts that Vanguard will be a good game, it's recently peeked my interest, but it just won't hit the same nerve as oldschool EQ.

And I apologize if I was snippish earlier, I'm not trying to quell anyone's opinion, I'm just getting tired of trolls popping up in these forums to bash and start flame wars.
