How bad is the grind in this game?

If I were to play about 2-3 hours a day how long would it take to get to the max level?

If I recall its typically between 450 and 650 hours, depending on your play style. Powerlevelers will do it in a lot less time.
I never saw it as a grind. Goes by pretty fast.

took me about 4 months of playing a few hours almost every day.
Assuming u used a Fire Tanker to Plvl, that is false. I had a Fire Tank ( i made him in August of 04 and hit 50 in December of 04, this was way before the revolution of them hit, at least on Protector)
Sorry for the off topic, but i don't like it when people lie, especially when they try to use it to Brag.
On Topic: If You solo, it will take you quite a while, but if you group often and don't mess around, it won't be too bad. But grouping is rather fun, so it wont seem that long either

your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't
375 hours for my DM/Regen scrapper...and that was with a lot of goofing around and helping lower level SG mates. Most of the levelling was done after I4 hit...which makes a huge difference. The same build could probably have done it in well under 300 in I2 or I3.
In the I5/I6 days, there is no way anyone will be able to do it in under 200 hours without PL unless they ease up on the nerfs a lot.
300-600 hours is the norm. An effective player could do it in about 150 hours if he was the right combo and farming XP, all solo. Groups usually slow me down, but I never turn a group down, always great fun. Until you stumble on nazies who want order in the group, in which case not listening to them and succeeding it was making them goes red in pure hatred and anger, they prolly goes on the sites and ask for nerfs, nerfs, and nerfs...and now they have a perfect game for their nazis controls, to bad they lack the players to share the world and meet others nazis most of the time!
The 5th column is alive, inside the player base! I don't remember but I think I took about 300 hours myselfs. Folks who take more than 600 hours are usually the nicest and friendlest folks around, taking so much time was usually done by social reasons, they are the best (unless it is a nazi control freak, no matter how long or short it take them, they are nazis)! 
I complete a few missions before all the group was in (I was the strongest solo template, sometimes it was possible to finish a mission solo even in a full group of 8, by finding the key mob and engaging him, most times it was not, but sometimes it was). Some folks in the missions where laughing endlessly while a few outside where dead angry. But IMO if they are to slow, this was a good lesson so they hurry up and stop wasting everyone time. Some folks stop grouping me, and I was better with that. Some folks actually make a religion to invite me in every group that was slow, most slow player learn when they see 1 mission completed before they zone in and they manage for it to not happen again. Cut the arguing with angry folks to binary, want my help or not? No room for waiting in such question. Off course, I did died a few times horribles deaths, but that is even funnier and the "good" folks who are late are experiencing remorse, while the bad are happy, until I succeed in a later mission.
Since the TF where to long, my recklessness and finishing missions way to fast made me quite popular and invited. A few controllers where having a different buffing schedule for me and checking for me to come back to get my buffs while the group was doing some other stuff...it was FUN! Sometimes I was staying with the group also...depend on efficiency. There was a running gag on the server to group me and another scrapper and just wait at ZI, at worst we would need to help each other. 
Of course folks didnt wait at ZI, they help, but was great fun to compete with the other scrapper, and the best part was to go give each other an awaken, it was like the humiliating process! 
Don't listen to the PLer guy, he is rude and unless he talk of the era where a level 1 can gain xp grouped with a level 50 he is lying, two reasons to ignore him. (without a SK I mean)
But yes, PL could get you to 50 quite fast, prolly around 60-100 hours considering the downtime and everything, but I didnt bother to PL or receive it. Faster than 60 hours means not talking, not socialising, not playing...assuming it is even possible, it also mean doing it all with the same few persons...which is a pain, you have no idea on your server then.
Blasters are the fastest to level up if you know what you are doing and careful. I was a BS/Regen myself...and a PB + Spines/Regen later. Evil meet sword....SWORD MEET EVIL!
Of course, with all the nerfs, such things are no longer possible, peoples don't take such risks and wait quietly with the group rather then rush forward and cleanse the world of evil. And some players dare say the game is better...LOL. When I was dying alone 3 levels deeper than the group, it was FUN for everyone, they tease me a lot while taking their time...usually I go to hospital and come back and bypass them again!
Since I was not clearing the whole floors, they where doing it...I was completing missions. As daredevilly as possible. But with the Issues 3-4-5-6...forget it, it is a far "more balanced" game now.
