Smed posted this not too long ago,  many have been theory crafting this idea in the PSU forums for a long long long time, me personally.. Never thought they would even attempt this.

but of couse all this could just be trolling, not until T-ray chimed in:

    Hmm... they have been talking about having a seamless transition between continents. Maybe this is what you ride and do battle on inbetween continental travel? image

    looks interesting, as battle-maps go it looks a bit small compared to the continents, looks more like it would be for skirmish type battles than the big battles we have been having on the planet surface, I wonder if it will be like Battlefield 2024 ships or if it will be just for transport to a new continent?

    Yeah they talked of instead of having bridges, joining the continents with sea areas and ships.

    Also talked about a 4th continent that is empty, where outfits can build their own bases

    I don't think that thing would be it by itself.

    PS1 players often asked for space and water based combat. Maybe this is a prototype for something to stick on the water for an archipelago-type continent.

    This carrier design looks clearly airbased, not waterbased.

    Hope they have equally as ambitious plans for getting out the hacks..

    If you read the blows and stuff they have very big plans for planetside 2.

    The biggest to me, they want the game to cater to both rvr and sandbox pvpers by introducing sandbox continents.
