Also, a strategy would be to keep a character as a merchant in the safe area that never leaves. Use it to support your gameplay character. The safe area is key though, if I can get ganked and 'dry-looted' in an economy area, I won't like the game at all.

I am typically a game economy tycoon and try to absolutely get the most immense amount of wealth in a game possible. I also like to stash my treasure and put on my best gear (which usually I've made for myself so I can also replace myself) and go and fight for whatever cause I am interested in. Dropping everything I'm carrying does seem to scare me, as long as I enter the situation aware of the risk and having stashed anything important to me in a safe storage place.
Will I have any interest in this game?
Money is a powerful tool in DF, and being a success merchant can put you in a good position financially as well as a an asset to whatever guild you may end up being in, if any.

AoE damage everywhere, jump and circle jerk and bunnyhop and super slide around, mass knockbacks, blinds and root bubbles and what not instead of skillfull play with rewarding precise aim in the case of more hitboxes and timing your shots and swiings.
No consequences in PvP ....and full loot also means almost nothing, counting in that gear isnt anything special and can be replaced easily.

So there may have been a thread (s) on this topic before, but having not played much if any of darkfall 1.0, i am curious into what darkfall 2.0 might be or have, so if anyone is able to give a base description of the games features like, combat? pve/ pvp orientated? has both? innovative features? quests / grinding? group or solo play? crafting? levels? raids? dungeons/ instances? etc...
This game does look interesting and its the only interesting looking mmo comming out for the next multiple months, so any insight on what it willbe like wouldl be much appreciated

I honestly don't see what all the hype is surrounding this game, its just most likely going to die a few months after release due to the immaturity of its playerbase like most gank/greif fest mmo's end up. I may try it when there is a trial but there is no way I'd buy this at release, especally after how horrible DF1 was. By catering to the extremly tiny so-called hardcore pvp crowd they are losing out on problly 10 times the amount of subs. I like pvp as long as people can't loot my shit, thats where I personally draw the line. Game should have a setting where you can prevent people from looting your corpse no matter how you die, but in turn your not allowed to loot anyone's corpse either, though this is more jaded on the avoid side. Your supposed to pvp for fun I thought, not for loot. You can be damn sure though if the so called hardcore pvp players had an option to stop people from looting their stuff you damn well know they will shut it off. Most of the people who are pro for that feature are the ones who gank newbies all day, just to ruin their day, which in turn makes them lose interest in the game. This is what I meant by a generally immature playerbase. They kill the game they like via their behavior.
I'm serious, all The dev has to do to get many more subs is remove the looting on deaths, that "feature" is a deal breaker for a huge amount of people. If they want even more, move all pvp to one area so it becomes a choice insted of forced.
Though I know fanboys will flame me for these opinions of course. DF:UW actually sounded a bit intersting if it wasn't for the un-needed looting mechanic
Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
The best advice for Darkfall was always to join a good clan. This applies to crafter/merchant type players as well as you will gain protection and more people who are trusted to buy things from and make things for so on and so forth. It would be practically be a safe zone in your alliance's capital city/cites anyways so you can peacock all you like. Multiple of these types of merchant players were in every major clan in DF1 and i don't see why 2.0 should be any different.

You just described 90% of the MMORPG's out there. I guess DF is simply not for you.
However even for PvE players it can be fun to have a risk of losing stuff since it gives much more value to the farmed ressource.
In most of the game you beat a random drop and you have no influence on that at all, in darkfall you farm the stuff for the best items, its not random ( when we talk about gear/weapons) and depends directly on how effective i play.
You are not good in PvP ? Ask someone to come with you and give him a fair share of the loot, its a sandbox if you encounter some problems there are ways to counter them. Ofc no indicator und onscreen tip will tell you that.
To the trolls, darkfall was empty because of grind and flawed game mechanics (self-siege,city portals, every skill used) to fix some of these problems the engine had to be rewritten thats why it is a new game. all this in two years with a horrible communication.
End of the stroy, i will enjoy Darkfall:Unholy Wars again for a long time like i enjoyed Darkfall while the trolls jump from game to game

You're talking about what WAS, not what IS/WILL BE.
Carebear MMO, hmm. if full loot FFA pvp game is carebear, then what is non-carebear game?
To me it's like gambling, where your every decision is a gamble like where to pve, harvest and pvp on that day, etc... The reason being is that every choice can either end up as a reward or a loss, so if you're fond of a flutter like myself, then your enjoy the experience that DF offers.
But if you run a clan or are part an alliance, then that gamble will be even more substantial. In the original DF, clans/alliances that made poor decisions, or came across as too cocky, soon found themselves defeated and homeless, it was the smartly led clans that were successfull and i'm looking forward to seeing how the political landscape goes this time around, as it really was enthralling, but extremely brutal.

Darkfall:UW is a MMORPG, With FFA PVP, Full loot, PVE, Crafting, Player owned cities, Player Houses, naval battles and lots of other good things..
If its anything like the origional darkfall then it will be oneso f the best MMORPGs on the market at least for me anyway as the FFA full loot PVP brings somthing to the game that most other games are missing.. its just exciting going around the world knowing you could be jumped and possibly killed at any moment.. nothing really comes close o it..
Anyway if your not happy with being able to loose all your gear then stay away from Darkfall:UW.
