As was already said: play US version. much better service. Living in UK my ping was about 100. Also more friendly community,. Cash shop much much more user friendly.
I have been having a look at the game on UK servers myself. The community seems helpful even though many do not speak English, they still try to help out.
The issue you will have with stateside is time zones, you are on at 11PM and those on the East Coast are just getting back from work.

Actually the UK servers are ran by a different company and last I knew, they had a 3 tiered free to play, pay a little or pay a monthly fee > and F2P, was not able to access many things you can on NA server, which is 100% free to play.
EU took months longer and several missed promised deadlines to get us our vet rewards.

Seriously if NCSoft had stated that once accounts where transferred we couldnt still use our NCSoft accounts on the NA version then I wouldnt have transferred.
The reason I don't play now is 2 year worth of vet rewards and unlocks etc are now with gameforge and can't be used on the NA side.

None, go to the US version instead. Gameforge is a subpar company when it comes to MMOs so don't try Aion EU

None go to the NA gameforge are an absolute joke.
EU is months behind NA in content patches.
