What happened to everything that made this game unique?!
"MMORPG.com: The offline advancement system, has it been scrapped totally, or is it still being tweaked?
Jeffrey Steefel: Its been scrapped. In practice, we felt we could accomplish much of the goals of the system through other means."
WTF.......... Wasn't that one of the main features of the game!?!? I was actually looking forward to that...
"Jeffrey Steefel: The Lord of the Rings is a much more broadly recognized name that we believe will help us create an even larger community of Tolkien fans online."
Wait, wouldn't all "Tolkien" fans know what Middle Earth is? I mean Turbine's basically saying "this is just a mirror of the books/movies." The title "Middle Earth Online" meant that we (players) would be playing in the world that Tolkien created, not just the section of history that he wrote in the LotR series. The game just seems so confined with the new title.

I can understand your complaints but they also have financial issues to contend with. Casual fans are most familiar with the time of the Books and that gives them the most chance to be financially successful. Also they only have the rights to the stuff in the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, not stuff like unfinished tales and the Silmarillion. I agree though, it would be cool if they had first, second and third age servers and some race/faction based pvp servers.
I can tell by your expression that you've been away for a while and just came back to check on things. Yeah I know how you feel. I mean I was following MEO a while back and then I disappeared for most of the year. Well when I came back I noticed that it was now LOTRO. But regardless of the name the game has to be set at one single point in the history of Middle Earth anyway. I'm not sure what spot on the timeline the game was originally going to be set in but I'm sure it would've been the same as it is now.
Though I cant say I'm disappointed. Judging by the developers notes they're doing some pretty innovative stuff there.
