Console = Money. Obvious. There are so many more Console players than PC players. From a business standpoint, it simply makes sense.
DC Universe is one of the first decent MMOs to hit console. It did better than I thought it would.
Console System performance is getting better and better. XBOX's 720 Demo: http://www.examiner.com/video/xbox-720-demo-footage-from-square
We will certainly see a huge collective of MMOs hitting the new consoles. If you think the genre is bad now, just wait!

I played Everquest Online Adventures on the Playstation 2 when it was released. It wasn't bad really, despite some annoying glitches.
Bad? How condenscending are you towards console gamers? Their $60 is worth the same as your $60, you know.
DCUO is not a bad game, i am more than happy to play more games like that, although i am playing it on the PC.
Examiner is a Pay Per Post type of thing. I do not look at them as official news. The idea of MMO on console is a different mindset. I do not know how it would play out, but I wouldn't be comfortable using a controller for an MMO.
Just my 2 cents.
I think now that the subscribtion MMO is dying it's likely they will come to the next-gen consoles. I remember reading that Microsoft wouldn't allow games to charge a sub on top of XBL.
I'm personally looking forward to playing in bed / on the sofa while grinding for hours.
I hope the XB720 controller wll have a few more buttons as well, but not counting on it.
Played - WoW, LotRO, AoC, WAR, Aion, Rift, SWtOR.
Playing - GW2
Want - TESO, Neverwinter, Titan
The main reason game developers like consoles is that they include robust anti-piracy measures. Single-player PC games are dramatically easier to pirate than single-player console games, and having most of your customers pay for a game sure beats having 10% pay and the other 90% pirate it. But MMORPGs don't have that problem, as online payment systems intrinsically make piracy impossible short of credit-card fraud.
Meanwhile, PCs have some enormous advantages over consoles, most notably that they're an open platform. This means that you can do whatever you want without needing Microsoft or Sony or whoever to approve every update as you would on a closed platform. See how Apple has sometimes decided on a whim that particular programs would not be allowed on iOS at all, or even once approved, would later decide to block all future updates. You really don't want to spend $50 million developing a game for Xbox 720 only to have Microsoft decide on a whim that they don't like you and won't allow the game to run.
Another advantage is that you can keep all of the revenue that comes in (after credit card fees, that is), rather than having to let Microsoft or Sony or whoever take 30% off the top, or whatever cut they take. If you charge the same fees for a PC version of your game as a console version, then you'll really, really be hoping that your players prefer the PC version, as that lets you keep more of the money. If you charge more on the console version to make up for it, then if you can get exactly the same game for $15/month on PC or $20/month on consoles, how many console players do you think you'll get? Enough to justify making the console version?
I think the most likely transition will be that the definition of "MMO" will continue to diversify, and multiplayer console games will eventually be included in the MMO definition. From there we'll start seeing hybrids where console games have more MMORPG features. We're already seeing MMOs that look like console games.
I'm not trying to beat up on consoles, but in general, if the game launches on console, the Pc version is generally dumbed down.
Consoles don't have the controls needed to properly game via MMO. It would be terrible... unless the new consoles supported mouse / keyboard.
Because i can.
I'm Hopeful For Every Game, Until the Fan Boys Attack My Games. Then the Knives Come Out.
Logic every gamers worst enemy.
