Prime time is when I avoid playing actually, performance just dips to low for me in zergs/large battles, and trying to go somewhere else and defend a base getting backcapped usually ends up with me in the respawn room surrounded by tanks and C4.
Middle of the day or very early mornings I find are great, still plenty of battles going on and the game runs much much better. Defending is a lot more fun against a single platoon or a couple of squads. In my opinion anyways.
