Yeah, but they still aren't as bad (at least around here) as the GW2 fans.
TSW also installs XFire unless you opt out of the install, so it's really not surprising that the numbers are up. They're up on Steam as well, which also isn't surprising.
** edit ** Or not, seems like TSW's run on Steam was short lived...until the Steam sale starting tomorrow.
I just reinstalled today, from the retail disk, and xFire wasn't part of that at all.
xfire isn't included with it. I've installed it 2 or 3 times now and each time NOTHING was included.
When I downloaded it from the TSW website it had a popup when installing the launcher to also install xfire. It was pre-checked and I had to uncheck it so that it wouldn't install.
I remember recently checking on TSWs X-fire numbers and was surprised, it was as low as 200 hours per day before the B2P update, now it's at over 200 players per day and over 1k hours.
Good to see that B2P is keeping this title alive, hopefully long enough for me to get bored enough to buy it and give it a try.

Agree and GW2 fanboi bashing TSW community in a TSW thread just proves that point.

So are you trying to imply there isn't bad apples in the TSW community? Or is it that I'm not allowed to share my opinion?
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

no doubt like every mmo there are bad apples but why come to a secret world post to knock it if you have no interest in it..really sad imo.

So it's sad if a GW2 fan comments on his experience with TSW, but the TSW fans can run rampant in GW2 threads and thats ok? Is it ok that TSW fans are consistantly STARTING threads to bash GW2? Is it ok that TSW fans have lied about me saying that I was constantly bashing TSW in the TSW threads when you could look at my post history and see that I hadn't posted in one in months? At what point in time is my legitimate problem with the community and its bad apples no longer valid for conversation?

It’s a good game for what it offers and I am not surprised to see numbers growing. They have an uphill battle but its one they can win and profit from.
When I am considering an MMORPG it’s business model plays a factor. To be honest, it doesn’t offer enough to warrant a long term subscription for most players. However, in an industry where most new MMORPG releases feel like single player RPGs with co-op anyway it’s a massive value as a buy to play title that you can enjoy for cool story missions with friends too. There’s no real overhead when you need a title to fall back on between the “big new releases.”
I really do not get why there is so much clash right now between say GW2 and TSW fans. They are not in competition outside of deranged minds. Both being buy to play with cash shops that consist of small charges for cosmetics I can afford to buy and play both as I like! They both have something to offer depending on my mood. I am having trouble justifying any free to play or subscription game in comparison but I will keep feeding dollars to both these games in small bits at a time admittedly because nothing is outrageously priced right now.
I'd be surprised it it wasn't growing. It's all about "how much" and "will this be enough" now. I've always thought GW's model relied mainly on selling over a million of copies for over 40$ each. A B2P needs a lot of players to be able to deliver lots of new content, not to mention expansion packs. I wonder if FC has enough people to form a separate expansion team.

No, it really isn't ok, my original point was, I have never seen a group of people go from game to game to bash it and tell everyone how superior their game was the way GW2 fans have. I have seen several TSW fans do the same thing, but there aren't nearly as many of them which probably has to do with the size of the populations of the respective games. I almost didn't buy GW2 because of this. Also TSW has done this primarily to GW2, and I think they did this due to GW2 doing this in the runup to TSW launch. But GW2 did this to every freaking game out there. WoW, TSW, TERA, SWTOR were all overrun by GW2 fans telling them how bad their games were going to do and how much better and more innovative their game would be. The only game I had any real interest in at the time was TOR, but I use to enjoy going to the other games forums to watch the show and pvp that would ensue when the GW2 fans came in. Its one of those things thats funny...when its not happening to you.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Maybe, but I didn't download anything from amazon, I went directly to TSW and entered my key, and downloaded it from there.
Once you complete the main quest there's nothing else to do; PVP is meh... farming the same instances for purples is very tedious...
the skill wheel is fantastic, but once you start running hard/ nightmare instances you realize that only X-specs are looked for and deemed 'worthy' it’s a shame because in the end its turned into the trinity MMO model. I was hoping for more flexibility, and there is as you can switch from any spec you want, but most don’t work well.
I'm not trying to disparage on anyone else's good time in TSW, I loved my 1.5 months in it, and I’m a huge HP Lovecraft fan and love the lore, quests and puzzles...
I just think the themepark MMO's are very nitchy-is that a word- and get old/

Well, I dunno. There's a concerted effort by some players to not get too worried about the leet "thou must have X spec" people, although no doubt they exist (as they do in every game). I guess you can get caught up in the drama, but I think a better solution is to find like-minded people who want to play the game the same way. To that end, a bunch of folks have set up threads for people looking to get into nightmare modes, and even set up your own group -- they have proven to be popular. This is one of those things that I don't think as developer can solve for us -- it's really up to the community to take some ownership by not playing into the "One True Build" mentality. Here's a few of those threads, just to see what people are thinking. Again, the TSW community rocks -- less complaining, and more doing, from my pov:

Yep, I was surprised when I saw xfire starts when I log into game. So xfire numbers are inflated comparing to other games.
I've read those posts and it does help, I personally ran with deemed 'crappy' specs but I liked them none the less..
the fact is still that once you complete the main quest all there is is blue, then purple farming..

what do they all have in common?
MMO-light/too themepark-ish
very good stories 1-30/main quests... but once its over PvP is horrid and all you're left with is running the same dailes/instances/modes for gear to do what?
so you can have enough gear/loot to run the same instances just harder for-yup- more gear

I played this game so much I literally had to break away from it.
I hope everyone has the same fun I did in the beginning and remember "Illuminati all the way"
