Just review the major releases over the last eight years, ranked by Units Sold.
The dedication & 'volume' of the Haters is directly proportional.
Didn't we already observe this from the 'most hated' poll? It really is just that simple.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
Mannish's question, to me, was a valid query to find out what kinds of games the OP likes. There was nothing inferred, implied, or intended with his question, I think.
Would an "old school" player seeking a long term investment in a living, breathing world think the same way as a player who enjoys quick, lobby based instanced games? Those are the two extremes with a lot games falling in-between.
There are players who enjoy GW2. There are those that don't. Different players seeking different forms of fun from the games they play. A player's gaming history factors into a response to their question.
Just remember, the higher the hype, the harder the fall.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
Two reasons:
1)People on mmorpg.com hyped the hell out of the game. There were a lot of guild war 2 cheerleaders during beta. Even the mods were caught up in this hype and that is why GW2 has more subforums then any game on this site.
2) The game is popular but has its faults. People hate popular things on this site (look at all the hate WoW got over the years). Therefore, rather then agree the game is good, a lot of people would just rather point out its faults and mark it as a bad game.
Personally, I think the game is good and I still play it for the PvP alone. But the game is still a baby and needs to go through some growing pains and get some more polish.
So gamers bought this game and supported ArenaNet just to send a statement about it failing? Re-evaluate what you said please. Your short-winded argument doesn't float.

It's the overly vocal few, who, despite hating the game see the desperate need to post what they don't like about the game in every single GW2 thread.
I'm not even exaggerating.
Check the GW2 forum here on the site. Then please notice those saying they don't like the game. Note their name and avatar. Then go to the next thread. Oh look there they are again. And the next thread. Again. And the next thread.....again.
In fact, several of them are in THIS thread too! So start here and work your way backwards through the threads and you'll see the same haters in every single thread. Seriously. I know people say, " It's just the same people hating the game in every thread." and I find that usually to be an exaggeration but this is not.
It literally is that bad. Don't take my word for it. Look through the GW2 threads. I mean some of these posters are freaking relentless. Its about a dozen people who never miss the opportunity to post in a GW2 thread and say something negative.

GW2 doesn't get bashed, particularly -- certainly not anywhere near what ToR, MO, or WoW, to name three, do.
Hell, it doesn't get bashed a tiny fraction as much as it probably deserves.
Honestly one of the oddest things to me about the GW2 fanbase has been how incredibly defensive and hyper-sensitive they tend to be. You expect some of that out of any fanbase, but with GW2 it is blown absurdly out of proportion. With most games by now the hype train would have reached the station and people who really like the game would have toned down the evangalizing to something closer to sanity and those that don't like it will have moved on. But with GW2 it's like a fair percentage of the playerbase can't let the hype train end no matter how battered and beaten it might be.
It's derailed, for god's sake, and yet they're still trying to ride it.
Weird, and more than a tad pathetic.
..Or the vocal minority who go into other game forums and shout out, "why don't you try Guild Wars 2!", even though GW2 doesn't meet the OP's requirements for a new game, or have anything to do with what he/she was saying. Multiple sandbox threads were infested with GW2 posts in the last month (Thank you mods for deleting those posts). GW2 is not a sandbox, lol.
You like GW2, that much is clear. But others (perhaps renegades or ArenaNet shills) keep trying to pollute game conversations with how great GW2 is ... argghh! People will play what they want to play. GW2 is a casual game - great graphics, shabby gameplay.
Instead of accusing everyone of being a hater, love the game you love, and enjoy it. Just because I don't enjoy GW2 doesn't make me a hater. I bought the damn game.

They don't like it and they don't want you to like it. So they bash it. They want to "save you" from wasting your precious time EVEN THOUGH you're having a good time.
People have been bashing games since the dawn of the internet. That's just a hobby for some people I guess.
Yea okay. I just think the same people kinda gripe about GW2 in thread, after thread, after thread. As though they have nothing better to do. Like I said I notice about the same dozen or so people doing it. Not that I'm saying you are one of them.......

But you're obviously not who I was talking about. No need to get offended! It's just that some people love to bash GW2 in just about every post, even when they're talking about other games in other threads. Like you know, the people who say they don't like GW2 in a Swtor thread for instance, when the thread has nothing to do with GW2. Thats the kinda thing that really drives me nuts.

Because there's always people to bash every game no matter how much you may enjoy it. There are games I like that nobody else seems to, and there are games that lots of people like that I don't. Tis the way of the world.

It doesn't make me look bad, rather, it makes me look consistant. I don't even need those links to tell you that GW2 is a great graphical game, but lacks the definition of MMORPG.

I don't consider it flaming in the least. He was pointing out Karteli's constant negativity regarding GW2 and the hypocrisy behind a comment like "GW2 fans are infesting sandbox threads". He seems to have no problem bringing up the game in non-GW2 threads. I'd say it's a double standard to expect differently of everyone else.
I agree though, Corehaven could have saved himself a lot of time just linking to Karteli's profile.
