Chivarly: Medieval Warfare = Dream MMO PvP Combat

DauzqulDauzqul Member RarePosts: 1,982

Modern MMORPGs have been experimenting with more "hands-on" or "real-time" combat. The only problem is that these games end up producing very clunky gameplay mechanics, e.g., Tera, Age of Conan.

Chivarly: Medieval Warfare is the first First-Person Melee game I've ever played that gets melee right. Once you start getting into it, the depth of its combat is very impressive.

I'd really like to see a MMO with this form of combat (at least for PvP): Melee Combat Video

If only it was less buggy and had better netcode. It has some depth but I wouldn't call it deep.

Perhaps you played it before the latest patch, as I don't notice a single problem with the game.

I'd rather have mount & blade warband combat with stamina than what this arcadey game has.

It would be better if it gave over the shoulder view or wide angle rather than just first person. Good MMO combat should involve large groups of players not just 1 vs 1 combat. It has potential but so far this just looks like a single player game.

I said on another thread, I hope bethseda are looking at war of the roses combat for when they make tes6, but would equally apply to chivalry or mount & blade.

P.s. if you like chivalry and m & b worth picking up wotr on steam sale.

^ This.  Ever since playing Warband, I thought it would make an ULTIMATE sandbox MMO.  The combat would be tough to mimic in an MMO environment.  Real-time swings, twitch combat, and shield/parry positioning.

The MMO features however include things like the ability to change Nations/Factions, Player-City Housing (Castles/Small towns), Complex crafting, and a variety of skills to build your character up.  Warband starts you off with being close to neutral with bows, swords, polearms etc.
