It's a great time to join, by the way. The population has been growing steadily over the past year and recently reached it's highest point yet. Click the link in my sig to join and look me up ingame for help.
They can adjust a game all day, but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair. Played: UO, DAoC, AC, WoW, EVE, TR, WAR, Aion, Rift, SWTOR, GW2, TSW, ESO, Elite:D Play EVE for free for 21 days
I wish I could start over in eve without knowing anything like back in the day. My suggestion really is to avoid the official forums and explore the game from inside. You will feel more immersed that way.
Enjoy the small things, don't strive for the biggest ship. All ships have a purpose and a role, all can be fun and most ships can counter each other. A couple well played frigs can bring down a battleship.
I have flown everything from frigs to supercarrier, and after years in the 0.0 war grinder I enjoy some mindless time in Faction Warfare. Log in, have some fun, log out.
I remember when I was new in the game and was scared to go to lowsec or 0.0 and it was all a thrill, doing a complex in lowsec and being scared to get caught, surviving gate camps (and dieing in that new expensive battlecruiser).
I suggest you go find a nice corp to join, a small but helpful one, that can give you a purpose and an idea what to train and what to do.
Make friends, because alone it's much harder. Don't be afraid to lose ships, start with frigates, they are cheap and easily replaceable. Don't fly what you can not afford to replace.
Also, if you use the buddy program you can get a 21 day free trial. If you upgrade to subscription I get a PLEX. They sell for 550 million+ isk on the market so, as wth other people, if you use my link and upgrade I will split it with you 50/50
Originally posted by Edkenny I have never played Eve before, how is it for a first timer. How is it, is it PvP, or PvE? I would like to know before I do the 14 day trial.
The nearest thing that EVE has to a manual is the ISK guide, it's a free download from www.isktheguide.com
highly recommended & excellent production values
Everything about EVE is PvP at heart, but PvP in EVE isn't just shooting at other players. Undercutting another players sell orders on the market or buying all the components on the local market so he can't produce items to compete with you is also part of EVE PvP.
