AoC art team is still the best in the west MMO market, period.
Beautiful as always...
Been quite a while since I visited AOC. Too many MMOs and too little time. How are the "casual playthrough" options right now - especially as a non-paying player?
Even after all these years it's the one MMO that still impresses me in the art and music department, the aesthetics of AOC are second to none.
The casual take is quite good. Just buy some exp potions (or get 10 x12 hours for free if you are a former subsriber) and you will casual rush to level 80. Or you can play like me. Just taking it easy and not rushing through the game. The mmo becomes much better when taking notice of the lore, and the setting in the game
I actually tried to come back to this game, I honest to god gave it a shot. But their F2P model is too restrictive for me to enjoy it or even want to sub to it. I personally think they should follow suit with TSW with the buy to play model and go from there.
Now, I bought and played AoC on release and was so dissapointed with it that I nearly vomited blood. It had so much potential, but the performance, the content was just so poorly executed. Now, I know lots of changes have happened since then but I have always been skeptical.
I had heard a lot of things from the existing community that it warrented me giving it another shot. Trouble is, I didnt want to pay and waste my money. So, I tried the F2P model and christ was I sooooooooo very much dissapointed in it all.
On the first instance, you can only pick certain classes, which, for me who likes to play a ranger/hunter class found this irritating because I couldn't actually try out the class I wanted to play to see if I enjoyed the game. Instead, I had to make a different class I had no interest in, to which if I then later decided to sub I would have to do all over a freaking again with the class I wanted.
Not only that you are limited at the very outset of the game especially with bag space, of course being a tutorial area you aren't given ANY NPC you can off load loot too. That coupled with other restrictions on the outset made my view of the game rather negative.
In the end I became so frustrated with the game that I just uninstalled the whole thing. I think I shall stick with TSW alone with Funcom which is an excellent game and I enjoy buying their cosmetics as well in place of a subscription and I dont feel a 'rush' to log on every day because I just log on and play whenever I like to.
