Are there any on right now? I hate anime and all games made in asia. All I see are MMO's coming out of Asia with open betas. Are there any starting soon or on right now that aren't?
I play this game for about 6 month now, about 8-12 hours a day. It is in a mixed alpha/beta stage at the moment, fully playable but the dev team is still adding features and balancing the game.
One of the best features of wurm is that it is fully terraformable. You are not limited by the landscape in any kind, you can equip your shovel and start to dig or flatten as long as you need to make the terrain like you want it to be. You can make caves and mine deep into mountains. You can plant trees or do some gardening to let your estate look nice; an own forest is helpful in many ways and trees are growing from just planted to very old in some weeks (depends on the sprout quality).
Wurm is skill-driven, there are no experience points, no classes or professions. You are what you are doing. In towns you may specialize in some profession, but when you want to live on your own in the wilderness you will try to become an allrounder. It is up to you, wurm lets you live the way you want.
Wurm is in a way both, a crafting game and a fighting game in one. But instead of fighting mainly against monsters you fight against members of the other kingdom (player versus player). If you want to feel safe, you can buy deeds (with in game money). Deeds are protected by NPC guards and raiders need to kill these guard first before they can steal or kill someone inside the guarded area.
It is a bit harder to start in wurm than in other mmos, some say it is kind of a survival game too. But it is very rewarding when you have setup your homestead, build a farm, a tailorage, a smithy and whatever you like. You can build any number of houses (but only one after the other). You can also found towns and attract others as citizen. Wurm is community-based and the community is great.
i play Wurm, if its graphics you are looking for, dont waste your time. but i dont mind the bad graphics and i find it an amazing game.
I believe ferentus has potential, good combat system but as of right now that all there is. not quests, no pvp, just grind grind grind. and there is no one ever on :- maybe it will get better when they impliment more features.
Hey Gaiukoo, I dont know how the hell you got 5 characters over 45+.. I got to lvl 31 and it took me FOREVER, I got so boredddddddddddddddddddddd, holy *#&!)&@&
are you guys talking about games that are made in the US?...those games where you attack....and then wait 10sec to attack again, and if you try to run away your still getting attack by monster even tho their far away?

I played ferentus for about four days and have a 30 something char. The game in this stage seems like a blatent rip on RYL for alot of things. but without a quest system or a point to play.. its just boring.
Do you create your houses and smithy and whatever... and can you then make use of them? I might well be interested in this game
About non-asian mmorpgs...
I used to play FreeWorld... Its in alpha or early beta phase os something (or has it been cancelled????). ANyway, from what Ive heard of Wurm, it was more or less like, but it was more combat oriented... you could upgrade your items and buy pets, which you could ride... And you got skills from what you were doing, no classes, professions.... There were like 3 diferent races from what I remember

Yes - first you set up your building plan (how big your house might be depends on your carpentry skill). Then you build your house wall by wall until all the walls, doors and windows are finished.
Now you can use this house for every purpose you want it to. If it should become a smithy, you build a forge inside of it. After this is done, you start to improve your forge in order to make it burn hotter and for a longer time with the same amount of wood.
Best, you try it out by yourself - it is still in mixed alpha/beta state and you can test it for free.
I don't know of any good games that are currently in open beta, although I thought I saw a site somewhere that said that Dark and Light might be coming out with one, that could be a good game if they were actually able to get the stuff done that they said they would. I am just waiting for someone to implement a new UO quality game.
