Crime and punishment

Someone breaks a rule that is not game breaking (macros, reverse engineering, duping) and is caught.  A bounty has not been placed on this person.  The punishment should fit the crime.  What are your suggestions for an appropriate crime and punishment?

Harassment...5 hours in jail having to complete a apology and questionaire as to why they did it.  Jailers would check on the offender and be sure they are at thier keyboard.  Those that leave their keyboards for a extended amount of time (don't want to punish bio breaks) are suspended for 5 days.  Account suspensions and deletions should be  done at the credit card/personal information level.  This will keep folks from opening a new account to continue their nefarious ways.

Simu will probably use the same policies they use in their MUDs. If they do, that means macros will not be illegal. AFK macroing though, will be.

Most games allow limited macro abilities.  I was speaking of a game limiting/game altering macros.

perma perma perma ban. In my opinion, the first offense should be a complete ban on the credit card and personal information (like you suggested).

I am against giving a 'warning'. Consider that most of the time it will not be the persons first offense, but rather the first time they've been caught. Then you have to catch them again? Hell no! Burn them on the stake after the first offense!!!

Goodness.  I wasn't wanting to start *this* type of thread.  I was speaking about non-game breaking type of crimes and misdemeanors.  Other examples could be getting caught pickpocketing a merchant or smuggling contraband.

I say that if someone kills another person, then they should have a bounty placed on their name. I think it would add depth to the game. In fact I think I'll post this on the council forums. Ex:

Say I kill someone in town or outside of town. Now mind you that there should be a piece of parchment tacked to the wall or door of the town hall/constable's office that has a list of "wanted" people. If I have witnesses (meaning, someone's familiar or someone themself) that see me do it, then my name should immediately be placed on that piece of parchment and a bounty should be next to the name. Ex: Adreal ~ 400. This would make it so the constable, once you see him, will give you 400 coins for killing me once you kill me and meet the constable (npc or pc) afterward. The game should log a record of the avenged just as it should log a record of the killers/murderers.

However, if one's clan (that's what guilds are called in this game) is at war with another's clan, then one person killing a member of the opposing clan should not have a bounty tacked to their head. They should be free to go to war with others with the only risk being their own life as threatened by the enemy clan and any alliance of that enemy clan or friends of it.

I don't think that would be a good punishment in any way, I think a good GM talk with the character would be just fine, especially since repeated actions would get them suspended.

And from the looks of things, I'm beginning to think their main servers WILL BE the RP servers, especially since people won't be able to pick rediculous OOC names, and that any additional servers would be to give those who just can not handle the fact that Simu has RPing policies a place to noob.

Yeah. I apologize if anyone misunderstood me. I meant that the traditional player-run guilds (or allegiances - groupings of players under one or more leaders) are called clans in this game. There are still, however, organizations known as guilds that players of clans in HJ may participate in.

In short, there are both clans and guilds. Clan = grouping of players. Guild = something to the effect of fighter's guild, wizard's guild, etc. of which a class might belong to in certain games (esp. in Gemstone IV). You can have both a person who is in Guild A and another person in Guild B who are in the same clan.

I think you should be thrown in jail and while your in jail if your week the other players in jail could beat the crap out of you, see this way you could have PVP, but you restrict it to jail, so then people could fight eachother for cigarettes or something.

Not that it will go into the game or anything but...

I'm a huge fan of this to a degree. The jailhouse brawls in DR were always fun.

GM events where both players and GM run characters were stripped and tossed in jail for breaking the law during the event (Murder, AoE's...etc), are some of my fondest memories. It was always a good reason to learn how to brawl.
