I was totaly dissapointed by diablo 3.Thank god that ggg gave us back that oldschool feeling where kids and low minded people cant play it.
The game is very deep something all the games should have been.
Instead companies wants us to play simple games in order not to work our minds and as a result after many years to become stupid.
On the other hand path of exile puts you into making critical decisions with some points to correct your mistakes.
I like deep games.
In my opinion this game is one of the best. The only problem i m having is the animation, the character model detail and the thing that i would like to see more cool and extreme looking armors.
Diablo 3 was because it's not anymore a game for stupid people who just want to click and not think.Im not that kind of guy and im sure noone is once they start using their brains on a game instead of just clicking.
That's all i wanted to tell you.Todays companies wants you stupid in order to control your pockets and they accomplish that by making you play games that does not require to work your mind.
Companies in the old times wanted you to actually put you into thinking state and that's why they were creating awesome games.
Think about that and u will realise why most of the games nowadays are terrible.
By far for me PoE has done a great job on expanding what I loved about Diablo 2 while making it its own. It filled the void that Diablo 3 didn't fill and really knew what an ARPG is about it filled it. The only thing that Diablo 3 has over PoE is Polish and graphics, which graphic wise PoE was iffy at first but it caught on pretty quick. Polish itself is nice, but its something that does not make a game. The polish in PoE is good enough to feel like your hitting stuff when you do though not over the top like D3, its still very satisfying.
For me, D3 lost touch of what made made ARPGs so great with making character builds and having more 'legitament' difficulty in content. It promotes the user to experiment and build various characters where you WILL have multiple characters to play of the same 'type' but all being so different from each othe.
Oh and its completely free. The only thing you might 'want' or could be considered a nessesity depending how you look at it would be stash tabs which more are out of organization/conveinence particular for building up multiple alts rather then a need. 4 can fit most basic needs easily.
@gravarg don't join a public group, solo the zone and u wont have that problem.. Normal difficulty is easily solo-ed since theres no exp penalty on death
On the interview, pretty much agree they have a unique take on the genre with their Final Fantasy hybrid of skills and passives system. Love the customization. Crafting is interesting since later in game you are actually hoping for a 4-6 socket white item rather than a rare lol.
This game is 100% free and is nearly as polished in BETA as a released 'big name' game so I see nothing but potential for POE and GGG and think this game will become a big success story.
I believe i will like the game, whenever I get to log in and play ..more than 5 minutes. The dc's remind me of early L2 days, all I need is for people to start calling me the dc king again. It's very frustrating to already have a full time job then to come home to work at finding the trick to get into the game.
Downloaded last week, while the servers were over crowded and couldn't get in. Tried at 4 am PST but only had enough time to create a character and play a short time before having to go to work. Tried a few more times and no access due to crowded servers..supposedly. Then I updated the graphics drivers and then I got in...yay..for about 5 minutes till it crashed . Now I get the client exe issue which locks me out before I can specify the America server. So reading the suggestions from the site forums from people that sort of appear to have ADHD. ( if you post a fix for something...maybe try idiot proofing EVERY step ) just a thought.
It doesn't make sense to me as I've successfully downloaded the revamped Hellgate, TSW and GW2 this last month and everything is fine with those. So why should average person have to jump through hoops for this one? Was something not tested in the launcher department or what? Did i not give them money so I'm automatically s.o.l ? I have no issue with paying for the work they've done, as I've said I have a job already so I can handle that part. I just don't intend to pay money and work at getting the game to run before hand. The flashbacks of Dark and Light are still too haunting of a memory .
It does look like a promising game. I like the ninja looting. I would like to see body popping like the good ol days in early D2. Live , learn, adapt and grow and the pains and woes just remind you that you're alive.
So with that in mind, I'm off to google another fix option ( i hope GGG is as well )
My OS is Windows xp, 4 gig ram, duo core processor. The other games run just fine before anyone suggests rigging up a new system. If anyone has a coherent legible idea for a solution , I'd love to hear it.

When was the last time you tried getting in, i should mention i have had zero issue at all.
GGG has a real 'gem' on their hands I loved D2, hated D3, and this game brings me back to the old D2 days in terms of playability and fun...Most fun I've had in a game since Darkfall 1.0 early days!
I love the game for its customizeation. Sure if you wanna get your build running from the get go you gotta do a Ton of Grinding. However i managed to make a Tank Energy Shield/Armor Ranger who could take one hell of a beating. in terms of asthetic Customizeation.... its a top down game... your not gonna see any of your Choices if there were any. Now i understand the ability to not be able to choose gender and all, However when starting the game i just picked the character design i liked because i knew that later i will be able to do pretty much whatever i want with her stats and abilities.
Because i can. I'm Hopeful For Every Game, Until the Fan Boys Attack My Games. Then the Knives Come Out. Logic every gamers worst enemy.
I love this game. I never played Diablo 2, so nothing to compare it to, but I'm use to games like Guild wars 2, or SWTOR. I like the way you can just click to move, and use the mouse to use some abities, with the rest being a row of keys. Makes it easier than most games I'm use to. Also, the passive tree is amazing, I like how you can make a really unique character, with just the tree, and not including the really cool gen feature. Love the way they handle income, don't feel the need to buy from the shop, unless I want to help the develpers. Once they stabilize the servers some more, so I don't get interupted by disconnects, the game will be perfect. ^^
Anyone who says they prefer Diablo 3 could not possibly have played, enjoyed or understood what made the Diablo franchise so awesome up through D2 LoD. The only explanation I can think of is that you must have been in diapers somewhere between '97 and '01.
Going to be hard to choose a game of the year this year as there really were no good games released in the MMO genre.
I like Path of Exile, but did not find it worth spending my play time with it. Again, D3 is more polished, but Path of Exile offers far more options for character development. I know a lot of people like this game and good for you that you found one that appeals to you.

If u want hardcore tis is the game.
Diablo 3 is cake run to compare tis game.
D3=casual
POE=hardcore
Hero Evermore
Guild Master of Dragonspine since 1982.
Playing Path of Exile and deeply in love with it.
Yep, possibly even better than D2. Definately better than TL2, much better than Krater, and D3 doesn't even deserve comparison. IMHO.
The utter lack of visual customization bugs me a bit, but getting past that, I've enjoyed the game enough to let it slide.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
Because i can.
