I understand that you need to post this kind of news, but it is hardly a major announcement. It is akin to reporting who received the contract to print the payroll checks, it is insignificant. When I think of a major announcement, I think of something that will impact my gaming life in some significant way. Operations of a game is not major in any way, especially a game that is not out.
I look to this site, and others, for news that could impact how I spend my money. The way this announcement was handled had a negative impact on my view of this organization. Please take this as constructive feedback, as that is how it is intended.

As I posted in another thread, I tried to post a teaser and things got carried away. I apologize for that.
That said, I do believe that this news is quite significant. It will impact how many (European) players spend their money. The "secondary citizen" syndrome many gamers across the pond have when a game is managed by an outside company is a legit one. With Codemasters and Turbine working together, this should be a clear indication that this will not be a problem for this title.
I wish I could have qualified the teaser with "major news for our European readers", but sadly could not.
All that said, I am well aware of your point and you can be sure I've learned a lesson from this.

This is a major announcement. Most of us ran with the idea of "major" and turned it into something much larger than that. Why is this major?
Codemasters first entered the MMO space with The Realm. It eventually was going to develop and publish Dragon Empires which they canceled. Now, they're going to run and handle RF online in the US and EU. Now, they're also going to run DDO in EU. DD is a huge license and the fact that CM will take care of the EU side of things is pretty big, especially for EU players. Maybe we'll even see CM take care of MeO in EU as well?
Although I never really felt like I was treated as a secondary citizen. Heh, the European SOE servers are a stonesthrow away from where I live (about 15 km). That's closer than many Americans can say!
If this was major, you guys better devote every panel on the front page to SoG from DnL when it goes live this month, sheesh.
Plus, Codemasters tends to make or sponsor crap (Shadowbane). Makes me wonder about DDO. No pvp, no player made equipment, hmmm. That combat better be D-A-M-N good! Can you target body parts like in Conan? I sure hope so.
@MMORPG.com staff: You know that next time when you REALLY have an important announcement to make nobody will believe you.
As for DDO, this game is doomed from the begining and thats because i cant imagine a MMO without such an important part as PvP. Who will pay a monthly fee to pay like in Single player. You might say, heY you make a team with humans and not AI. True, but there are so many kids out there that can ruin a game experience that you might prefer playing with AI in many situation. Beside that, there is no competition, no desire to prove yourself. How much time you can play before you are bored to death doing the same thing.
Anyway, good luck to DDO and CM. This game is not for me. I moved along when i saw it has no PvP and i am not interested in it at all. So, he can be released in 2100 and i dont mind.
But i can only respect others opinion and i will not start a flame. I will end my post here saying that i am too dissapointed by the "importance" of the announcement.
Haha.. poor Lepidus. Let this be a lesson for you mate, never underestimate the power of the hype machine!
Once its been set in motion, it will grow bigger and bigger until its so big people are selling information, pictures and alleged beta accounts to alleged games left and right on ebay.

I never really believed them to begin with. Too many times already have people posted threads like, "The Best MMORPG ever" and you already know it's going to turn out like crap. Anything "good", "best", "revolutionary", "unique", "different", and "one of a kind" usually translates to bad and the bad translates to bad as well. It's a cynical view, but don't look at me; I'm not the one propagating it.
