It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
This game will own EQ AND WoW! It is like Diablo which click and fire but that is where it stops. You must time your hits and aim for body parts to find weaknesses and chain spells. There will even be some Firsts-person action going on due to the world famous "Unreal Engine". There will be very detailed ladder tournaments and rumors of [real] money rewards. It is gonna be great. It combes out in Q? 2004.

Let me get this right: The dragons breath knocks you over the 300' cliff onto the jagged rocks below and you want a saving throw?
Ultima X will be interesting for sure, I too am enthusiastic about the combat system. Unfortunately no player crafting, no player housing, I think it will be fun to play for a while but will lack the depth to keep people subscribing for long periods of time. I mean this is EA we are talking about, they don't exactly have the best reputation when it comes to MMORPGs. (Bastards ruined my UO)

I will say again,
UXO is not Classic UO. For any developers who happen to see this:
You do not totally remodel a classic. You improve upon it. Do not make Y when X is a classic. Make X +1.
So for all the developers out there looking to survive and thrive, the following applies:
1. Take the Classic UO model and programming.
2. Take advantage of technological advancements in graphics and animation for visuals, fluidity, and speed.
3. Add a few bells and whistles (more equipment, more skills) withOUT changing the winning formula (Avatars? gimme a break! What a subscription-hook!).
4. Rake in Revenue.
So with UXO, call me a pessimist. But pretty graphics and first person "this and that" and "Avatars" and "Disciples" and "combat specialties" and whatever else they need you to do to play long-term to get that monthly $$$$ won't give you the feel of a classic!
REMEMBER, IF THE GAME COMPROMISES THE VERSATILITY AND INDIVIDUALITY OF THE CLASSIC, IT WILL BE JUST ANOTHER PRETTY PRISON. AND NO ONE WANTS TO STAY IN PRISON FOR LONG . . . .
Permadeath and environmental challenges are the next great step in the evolution of MMORPGs. Only through true adversity will one feel accomplished. Only in truly knowing you can die will true adversity present itself.
i think they said they were going to implement craftable items and houses in a later expansion. ALso, the reason why UXO is nothing like UO is because they said they didn't want to lose current UO subscribers so they pretty much made UXO for people who don't play or neccesarily even like UO. Anyway, i think this game will be good because of its virtue system, battle system, and quest system, which will hopefully not get boring.
well i have been unsuccessfully blabbing about this to myself in the UO forum for a lack of a better place (maybe it will get its own home soon!!!)
I totally agree that this game has a lot to offer the MMO world that is out there right now and that the combat and quest system that they have designed should allow for a very high level of play for people that like that kind of stuff.
here is a new video (also posted in dead UO forum) its from the event..there were lots out when the event ended, but this is a newer one.

and what do you mean by Q? are you asking when it comes out or did you accidentally hit that key?
Yes. this is shaping up to be a very well planned game i think. there's some good new info at the official game site now with more details about the game systems they're creating. so far i haven't been disappointed with what i've seen. i just want to see more!
