These guys steal 2 full tradeships in less than 30 minutes. long video but good overview of how this game will not appeal to carebears. http://www.twitch.tv/kalum_rants/b/366495910
It is my understanding that trade packs are all player crafted , resource intensive and to make good money they need to be taken to the enemy lands and sold by ship. but thats where the pirates make their money! I personally love the system.

Sir i wish you were wrong! lol but yep, you are 100% correct on this i bet!
Sadly I dont think they will nerf the game too hard. At least not at first. What will happen is it becomes a ghost town, because all the casuals and carebears will leave the game, and all the gankers and "pirates" wont have anyone to attack except each other. And lets face it, most hardcore PvPers cant stand a fair fight, they only want to gank lowbies or attack when they outnumber 5 v1. So eventually they will get bored without having anyone to PvP and they too will leave the game.
I dont want to see the game turned into another casual fest, but sadly if they dont, the game wont last long (in the west).
Amae and his coterie of evil doers are sure to draw many a QQ... LOL

Too bad they trashed the idea of player-looting... That's all you can do now, loot resource packs to trade for coins for blueprints.
And currently there is only 1 spot (small island) to trade the packs, so it'll be a zergfest warzone, camped 24/7.
Well in ideal sandbox there would be groups of pirates as well as grou ps of merc that for a fee will guard you from gankers. That's how player driven worlds work. I have no idea how much of it is ossible in AA and how zergy the fights like this can get, but it's certainly something that did happen in games. I remember back in UO times groups of players pretty much playing as guards for hire and it did happen in EVE as well.
In the end, it's all about how the game will be marketed and what Trion will want to achieve with it. If they will aim for the broad crowd and hope for huge numbers there will be lots of tears and disappointment, if however they will market the game for people looking for something with more risk/reward then it could end up as smaller but stable MMO.
My quesiton is, why the ship go underwater like that?o.o
There are lots of other places to go and trade. It's just that the small Island one is the hardest to get to, so it gives you the best rewards. You know what they say the greater the risk the greater the reward!
Big Guilds usually all group up and form large trade trains, with lots of guards protecting them.

Yes, I hope they do better than Snail Games did with Age Of Wushu!
The irony is those "carebears" are gonna determine if the survives or sinks. You might want to think twice about who keeps a game alive. I doubt there will be enough looters and gankers to keep the game going for a long time.
carebears will have no effect.
Archeage is build on this playstyle and if it changes then the game will have no fun and it will be destroyed
It takes one to know one.
the only thing i hate about stuff like this is that it becoms all about numbers, who has the bigger "gang".
from a selfish viewpoint as someone who dislikes that way of things that doesn't appeal to me, i just hope there's ways for the more solo person to also survive and make their way in the world.
it would suck if everything you do solo you just get ganked by a gang of people.
i realize alot of people love that and think mmo is designed for groups and guilds and working with others, etc... fair enough., i'm not one of those people but i still love mmo's.
i'd just like to see some kind of option for my kind to survive is all without having to always be with groups of people.
like the other person said you need subscribers to keep the game going and not everyone plays the same way or enjoys the same things, there needs to be some compromise.
Even carebears are dangerous in large enough packs.
There more players that are so called 'carebears' than y'all guaranteed. If this is the way the game is going to have to be played, I think this game will be very niche.

If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.
THIS is how a player driven game should run.
Another example was one of the things I did in SWG. I was a contract hunter for high-quality resources and rare drops. People paid me money to keep track of where the good resources were, and to gather / hunt them down. I made a fortune doing this for elite crafters, and I really enjoyed it. Crafters I worked for made a fortune too because they sold top-end items with high quality materials. I had a network of crafters who would contract me, and they would give me great deals on stuff they made too.
Today, players would cry until the game was dumbed down so that crafters could go get these resources without any risk or having to spend much time. And everyone wonders why they get bored with modern themeparks within a couple months.
A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.
Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

If your wondering why you haven't seen much of Amae and his "IMPACT" cronies lately, it's because they ganked so many people the enitre server has placed them on the "KOS"
list. One thing you learn is never piss off Korean gamers..lol
Their entire guild now is now camped mercilessly (by all factions) to the point of where doing anything outside of a safe zone is impossible. So most of them have now since quit or moved into other guilds.
Yep, one of the entire points of Sandbox like games is that you live and die by your reputation. Had 'IMPACT' restrained themselves to the other faction only they might still be active. Instead they pissed in everyones cheerio's and are now paying the price.
Gotta admit it was fun to watch over their shoulders for a while.
Now you take something like Fido's 'West Nuian Trade Co.' that is well respected and thriving. It's all a matter of choosing your allies and your enemies. "Impact" chose to make enemies of all and is paying the price.
i think you are confuseing PvPers, and gankers with MMOplayers in general, they are not one and the same
F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used to
Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.
Not true at all. Or at least if you read their posts at AA-S
