SOE=money hungry bunch of retards.
Well I just tried the beta of the new cu part 2:)...I think its a blast...really enjoyed it. Bash it as much as you want, but as a long time swg basher and ex player I signed back up for this.

SOE never listens to its customers. You're better off playing WoW, CoH, or any of the games that are listed as the top rated MMO's. This makes 2 complete changes to SWG in less than 6 months, what does that tell you? They screwed things up and I and most veteran players are getting screwed because of it. If you want to play a good Star Wars MMORPG wait until Lucas Arts pulls the plug on this one and decides to give the job to someone else, it probably won't be long.
As another Long time player from Nov,03 I feel completely let down by what SOE are doing to us the Community. Pretty much all my friends have cancelled there accounts and are leaving me in the same frame of mind. I have a Jedi and a Crafter Alt in swg and have been completely shafted both ways with these new changes.
I thought the CU was the radicle change that was forced upon us and was not needed and now this????
I will be sticking around till the 24th to give it a couple of days. Then I'm cancelling for good. I've lost a lot of my online friends due to the incompetance of SOE trying to keep it's community happy.
Bring back an original Server with original content and I'll play once more otherwise bye bye swg hello Dark and Light.
I dumped this game about a year after its first release and then tried Jump to Lightspeed hoping for some real time FPS action. I liked the Jump to lightspeed concept but the rest of the game was still there and boring as ever. So when I hear the "veterans" of this game complaining about some new changes I kind of feel sorry for them. I picture a genre of gamers that are older and want (and deserve) an old fashioned slow playing easy (some will call boring) style of game. Did they change SWG to move any faster? Its not yet a FPS im sure since SOE doesnt know what that is (Planetside is there Sad version of a FPS) Why are people complaining and for those who like the new changes, are they worth checkin out? Thanks much.
This post is intentionally written as to not make any sense what so ever. Thank You Very Much.
I am a veteran and I came back to try these new changes. IMO they are the best thing that ever happened to SWG. It is MUCH better and feels WAY more Star Warsy with quest driven content. Much better than before.
However, they have decided to screw over all the veterans because you will have to respec into one of the 9 condesned professions once the NGE goes live. If you are a CL 80 Swordsman/Fencer right now and say you decide to spec into jedi you will become a CL 80 jedi. Sounds great doesn't it? BUT they just announced you will spec over according to your CL equally BUT you will NOT get any of the items you get as if you deleted your existing character and started over and played from lvl 1 up. In the new system when you reach certain levels you are awarded items for your profession.
So there will be a LOT of CL 80 jedi with no robe, no lightsaber, no lightsaber crafting tool, etc. Utterly rediculous. The veterans get screwed over and the new players get everything handed to them. What is the point in being an uber jedi with no robe and no lightsaber?

For me it's not so much a matter of does this make the game better rather than a question of do I want to continue to be treated like this. For me the answer is no. I understand they made a business decision to sell as many pre-oders as possible of ToOW before announcing this change and in doing so they show total disregard for their customers. I for one feel ripped off and I will not continue to support SOE in any form.

As someone who just bought this game several weeks ago and only played it for 1 night, I am excited for this new system. I'm not much for MMORPG's, so a hybrid between an FPS and a MMORPG sounds great to me. I find the combat systems of World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, and others to be too slow with too much control placed with the computers random battle system. So, although this may suck for all of you long-timers out there (particularly the ones who have high-level characters in classes that are being eliminated, ) for a new user it looks great. I have decided to wait until the 15th to try it again with the new features. And for those of you who seem to believe that 'they don't care about the players' and 'they decided to make a business decision', I think you should just think about the fact that if they don't make enough money on this thing, they shut it down completely, OR stop adding new content to it alltogether. Now, if this were World of Warcraft and they all of a sudden decided to change the entire combat system, YES, I'd say 'they don't care about the players." But its not. SWG is one of the least played MMORPG's right now and the company needs to justify its existence. The only way to do that is to continue to improve the game and attract more subscribers. And if the current system ain't doin it, its gotta be fixed. Plain and simple.
Further proof that SOE has taken to employing drug addicts and politicians with their own peculiar sense of reality. I'd like for Nancy to tell the class, just where were all those Jedi at the end of Episode IV? There sure seems to be a bunch of them in Star Wars Galaxies.

How many more combat changes ? I played that game at release and actually liked it. The gameplay was different from every other game i played. I quit after 2 months to play another game.
2 months ago i went back to check the Combat Uprade, found out that everything on my main character has become useless, tried to upgrade equipements, weapons, armors to met new standard but failed miserably. I quit within a few days.
Now SOE is doing it again ? Another combat upgrade ? Give me a break, you cannot change the gameplay of a game every 6 months like that. You are telling all your players .. "You know we don't give shit about what you have done with your char, now just start over"
Now what is it going to be ? They gonna turn the game into what now ? For how long this time ?
Patch Note : February 15, 2008
Combat Upgrade #17 : Time Warp : After some reconsideration and after listening to our 2 remaining player we choose to roll back the game to what it was a launch.
I am a veteran player with 4 accounts that I am canceling as we speak. SOE cannot be trusted and everything that you gain in this game to build on can and will most likely be taken away from you without any notice. I will never be involved in another game that SOE has a part in. They will not listen to its players and will at every step possible stomp on its current players to make a quick buck. They gave us a new expansion "Mustafar" let everyone purchase this expansion then proceeded to change the game completely into another game. Basically took all of our monies and changed the game completely. Should be laws about this type of behavior.
Most of veterans leaving,
Sad day
I for one cant wait......
The game turned to crap long before the first upgrade (around the time people figured out they could grind to jedi). With the classes being horribly imbalanced and uber templates not to mention the comp armor and buffs that made us all invincible.
Its about time they flushed all that garbage and tried something new.
Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.
This game is poisonous and fraught with a constant stream of meaningless nerfs, downgrades and other changes. This is the second time they have completly revamped to combat system this year, the third year of the games existence. They announced this change a day after everyone who was still playing it bought the new 30 dollar expansion. Of course when this game was launched one of the selling points sony used was that it wouldn't have any paid expansions. There are other nasty profit mongering things soe has done to this game over the years. To many to list here. Anyone who buys this game at this point might as well flush that cash and the subsequental monthy fees down a privy.
Sony can rot in HLL
You see,i bought this game 4 months ago,in the first month i´ve joined Phalanx,a veteran guild.
Phalanx City is the first city of the server,so i asked the Elders to meet the vets, and they told me that most PhX vets closed accounts when C.U hits. They also told me that SOE and Its Devs did not care for its players,Now i see what they meant, after 4 months of SWG,SOE are destroying the game, entire PA´s are lefting the game, and no matter how much people leave, or complains they will put NGE live.
So i´m done with SOE and SWG.All my devotion to this game was for nothing, everything my guilmates and me have worked hard to achieve is going down the drain, our guild vets returned 3 months ago just to see again the kind of respect SOE gives to its 2+ years vets, and for those that came after.
The majority of the player, vets or not dont want NGE,but as always SOE dont listen to us.
right to point.
I've being playing this game 18 months now.
My friends and i played it because of its diversity, namely interaction with players, combat, crafting & space.
We made a lot of friends from all over the world.
We where excited when they announced ToOw(Trails of obi-one) and also bought this game, pre-ordered.
One day after the official release of ToOw they announced NGE ????
I must say, i almost fall of my chair where i was sitting on.
- This game has being downgraded to a fps (First person shooter)
- Jedi is less then a normal combat char. Everyone can start one.
- Crafting is almost out of the game.
- Some nice proffessions where removed from the game. Creature handler, bio engineer.
- movement is horrible.
- The star wars feeling is completly removed from the game.
- Role playing? running around doing some quest is not role playing.
- Every character with the same proffession is not different the another with the same proffession.
- if you want to change proffession, you have to delete you're old lossing every thing you gained/gathered.
The policy they use: damn a bug. djee i don't know how to fix it. o well i'll just remove it, no one will notice it. oops i just created another bug by removing that other thing. o well i'll just remove that too.
Saying its all in the better for the gamer is the greatest lie of them all.
They just want this game on playstation 3
People asked to have more then one character on the same server.
Lucasarts/SOE always said no more then ones.
Latest announcement: Stay tuned, you will be able to have 2 tones on the same server.
This latest is where i desided to quit for good. I'm just going to end my subscriptions.
Lucasarts/SOE have:
No concideration for people with high latency/ping. removall of the lock-on target system.
No consideration for the elderly gamer and the non combat gamers.
No consideration for their "customers"
What could have being the best MMORPG has become a MMOAG (= massive multiplayer online arcade game)
I will never buy a mmorpg game from Lucasarts/SOE

i'm glad i left when the first combat upgrade went into effect. and i can only laugh my butt off now...
RIP SWG, soon thanks
Yes, veterans are leaving.
Strange thing is .. many OLD veterans are coming back (at least on my galaxy, Naritus). People that played in 2003 and early 2004 , who left when holocron insanity (the beginning of the Jedi desaster) started.
Do you see the same on your servers ?
Have fun
Erillion
I definitely agree with this. Me, my friend and some people from our guild are pre cu 2003 veterans that basically played it a month or two after release. Were coming back excited as hell about the changes.
