Pick 3 features from previous PVP/RVR titles besides DAOC that you loved and would like to see in CU

Let's not kid ourselves, there are new innovations which are outstanding but there are many old ideas that are priceless. Match those ideas with CUs world and magic could happen. Lets pick 3 of those and list them here.

My 3: in no paticular order.

1. I loved in Aion how the longer you survived and got kills you eventually got a devastating ability. Only usable once and then the long process starts over, so its not over powered, just fun. Also if you died or zone before using it the process started over. CU doesn't need to copy that exactly, but a play on it like 15 kills in a row, or 10 revives in a row without dying, a strong ability becomes available, etc...

2. Also from Aion. Once you reached a high pvp rank, an officer rank, really hard to obtain, and ranks go away when you spent points to buy pvp gear, once you reached that rank you could transform into a god like toon for a limited time. This added a extremely fun dimension and often was used to turn the tides of battles.

3. Once again from Aion (hehe) The keeps, when taken they unlocked dungeons with speed and time trials. The more efficient your group completed these, the better the rewards. But you HAD to win  PVP battles to unlock these places.

I imagine those fun features in a camelot like world would be awesome. Perhaps I am alone though. I look forward to reading others.

    1) Death Spam on global chat

    2) GW2's Supply mechanic  ( loved it )

    3) Darkness Falls, Great idea to make your realm care about RvR

    4) When you died in RvR, you had to wait to get back in. Dying was rough - Best thing ever, It made you care about staying alive.

    5) Realm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm AbilitiesRealm Ranks, and Realm Abilities

    1. Land Ownership - This can be by guild or individual. They can build their seigable towns. The fact that they can always be burned down means the landscape is always changing. Politics come into play to a certain extent as well as the fact that usually great bonuses come with owning keeps/house/etc. This was a Shadowbane style thing.
    2. Supply Chains - I loved this aspect of not being able to defend forever if you don't have the supplies available to upkeep/repair/build seige. Also it allowed smaller groups to affect the larger war if they didn't just want to pile onto the zerg. This was from GW2.
    3. Names of and ability to talk to enemies - I love knowing who killed me. I loved having rivals. The funny thing is over the years I became the closest "game friends" with people who were at one time or another, my enemies. This would never have been able to happen if I didn't know who they were when they killed me. Games that go out of their way to hide info in comeptitive enviorments all for the sake of sparing someone's feelings make me sick. This was/is multiple games.

    1. Fluid strategic combat, something more like AoC or TERA, but those are bad examples imo.

    2. Conquest style resource wars, a la Rift

    3. Player Buildable keeps/towers. I really don't honestly care if we build them ourselves or just capture them, there needs to be some form of guild or alliance ownership. a la Shadowbane

    Currently Playing: ESO and FFXIV
    Have played: You name it
If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.

vehicles that act as spawn points when deployed - planetside

PVP tanking abilities like hold the line, guard and damage reducing taunts - warhammer

inteference system - perpetuum - make it work with magic so you cant have a mass of mages bombarding with aoe without gimping their dps, its a great anti blob mechanic http://www.perpetuum-online.com/Help:Interference

    1) From Dark and Light : ability to build castles and forts anywhere. using different materials made different strength fortifications

    2) From Dark and Light: (Proposed but never worked) building a fort in a territory granted tax income for your guild

    3) Character progression other then gear. complementary abilites to help further define your character.

    4) Supply line mechanics from Dark and Light or GW2. Make people do more then hole up in a castle.

    5) ability for certain classes to use climb points of towers and keeps. gives you more to defend against

    6) abilities like Hold the Line from WAR...gives tanks active jobs during ranged battles

    7) Darkness Falls....

Good thread. Does it have to be PvP games?

    1) I haven't played it, but player-run cities in SWG sound awesome.

    2) PS2's roadmap: http://www.planetside2.com/roadmap - every MMO should have this IMO. Especially CU.

    3) An item system like Diablo 2 classic. Every item has random stats (rare items), no unique/named items.

I could list about 100 things I want from DAoC but the OP was smart enough to disallow it.

    DAoC - Excalibur & Camlann

Orbital strike like in planetside.... there have been quite a few times I wished I had that in other games. But the skill would need to be hard to obtain and on a long timer.
