I played POTBS which is a society based game for almost two years completly on my own with no help from anyone or with a society of fellow players. This made the game almost impossible to play but I just played it one day at a time. finnaly I was able to build my own Med. and once in a while a larg ship and this inabled me to start trading with the societies ship builders untile finaly I got very lucky and ran into a few people that felt sorry for how hard I was working in the game with very little to show for it. I started making Iron by the boat load and my acquantinses would buy it up from me so I could make a nice profit untle I was able to meet the uper eschilon of players in the game. But unfortunitly I was not familure with Societies protacol and did not make many freinds. They were not enimies but I had a society of one where they rulled over multiple. My bad. I still manage to be a well saught out supplyer in the game but by no means a elite supplyer just maybe slightly above average.... all of it work.
Then I start doing missions with this gamer so we could aquire swords or perks in the game more easaly but unbeknownst to me this guy was working under cover for POTBS to seek out and catch the plethera and I mean vast amounts of cheaters and hakers in the game. I tage along with my friend and he does not shy away from some of the more prominat hakers in the game and I am happy to be playing with anyone that will talk to me. This goes on for months all the time my (friend is working and making contacts while I am trying to finnaly enjoy my years of hard work in the game.
Untile my (freind) and I have one of theses hakers show us how to cheat. One time. This cheat took three players so I knew I would never get anyone to do it with me, and by freind incouraged me to participate with him.
I get banned for life.
I try to get in touch with the staff but they do not return my e mails.
So my point is do not be lonly in a game because some guy that wants to catch bad guys will use you to infiltrate and then throw you under the bus. Not in the game but in real life.

You got what you deserved.
My story goes likely with you too dude, but with different ending. A friend whom I met online, promised to teach me how to use a certain hack tool for our game. And right before we started, he told me that he works for the company that hosts that game and just wanted to know how badly I want the cheat - even if it caused me my account to get banned (well of course, he won't be the one turning me in). I end up playing the game hack free.
Pockie Pirates - Recruit your crew, Level up, Boost your protagonist, Defeat the warlords, and be the most respect pirate in the seas.
Ouch! The thing is I think I might have been sought out by this rat (freind)because I had complained about all the hakers when I arived after I switched servers.
So let that be a lesson if you complain and the game say's don't worrie about it, then worry
