only want to remind you of some facts:

    1) trion worlds is publishing the game, they have nothing to do with the development. maybe they will support xlgames with the localisation, but even that isn't for sure, because trion worlds isn't hiring people especially for archeage right now. rumors say that Tencent, the chinese publisher of archeage, paid xlgames 50 mil $ us-dollars for the rights to publish it. my best guess is that xlgames and trion made a similar deal.

    2) xlgames, the developer, didn't just start with the localisation of archeage for the western market after they found with trion worlds a publisher, no, jake song mentioned in an interview in summer 2012 that they allready started with it.

    3) archeage is based on cryengine 3. in direct comparision to f.e. the heroengine it seams that the cryengine is the better choice. better performance and grafics with less needs on pc resources.

    4) archeage is released by now in asia and if you gather information f.e. in korea about this game, its very polished. the players are very happy with the current status of the game.

so .... if some of these information above are correct and if we take other games (like tera or aion) as example, the nearest release date for archeage in the western market seams so be june/july.

about the 2013 competition between archeage, the elder scrolls and wildstar ... it all depends on when they will release and if  these games can keep more than the usual 30% playerbase after the first three months after launch. and yes, after world of warcraft no triple a p2p mmog could kept 70% of their buyers for longer than 3 months interested.

Quite possibly the most ignorant thing posted in this thread. You do realize the way it is now is what people want. If they "westernize" it for the WoW crowd the game will be ruined and fail like TERA. So if you truly support this game you wouldn't wish that death to it.

Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

Why would you say that? Rift is still box+sub and will not go to f2p. Just launched one of most successful expac's in mmo history. They are releasing 2-3 other mmo's this year as well. I think they are doing quite well.

    What?  According to who?

    You make me like charity

One of the most successful expansions in MMO history? Wow... delusional over here.

If Rift was doing well it wouldn't have merged servers so many times.

I am also very glad that Trion got the contract.. I never played rift.. Well atleast not subb. I tried it tho.. but it wasnt my game..

But i do know that this company is one of best companies in the game industry concerning patches/communication/customer support..

I''ve been watching alot streams lately and reading alot of stuff about this game.. its a all in one weaved mmo..

So  many elements in crafting/pets/sieges/pvp/housing and so forth

I truely hope that the combat/gameplay has a good feeling..

is anyone actually playing the KR version? and tell me something about the gameplay/combat?

Perhaps I missed something but isn't Trion ONLY the games publisher?

Regardless I do feel it's a good choice to have Trion be the publisher of ArchAge.

The highly anticipated ArcheAge is poised to be the most polished massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) coming out of Asia. Trion will host the game on its Red Door platform in North America, Europe, Turkey, Australia and New Zealand. http://www.tentonhammer.com/archage/news/trion-world-to-publish-archage-in-the-west

Trion and Xl games need to take their time on this, and let this game mature more. At the moment AA is so vanilla with so many features lacking that it is creating allot of complaints. If this game were to release now in the west, I don't think it would so very well.

Is this getting a graphical update or overhaul?  Anyways regardless I'd like this game to be successful.   My only fear is by the time it gets here, it will be so obsolete graphicaly that many will put off playing it.

And while I love things about the game, I watched some videos of its gameplay and even I have to admit the graphics look incredibly dated compared to things I play now, and I sometimes think I might just avoid it due to that.  This issue will only get worse as time moves forward.

You would think with games like SWTOR and FF14, mmo players, atleast the ones that enjoy a quality mmo game over a piece of crap game, would realize that graphics mean very little in the overall quality of a game.  Take GW2 for example: the graphics are good, but its the gameplay, the solid fundamentals, the tight controls, and the smoothness of the character animation that keeps the game so strong.

I believe the saying goes 'don't judge a book by its cover'.

well SWTOR never had good graphics in the first place but it was a pile of bunk and still is.. never really tried FF14..

AS for GW2 that is the most boring MMORPG i have played full stop by the end of the first week of playing that my brain has started to dribble out of my ears.. so ti got uninstalled and will enver be on my PC again.

Its true that games should not just be about graphics but its now 2013 so games should be looking very good especially PC only MMORPGs.. so for me modern graphics are a big part of a game i dont want to be playing MMORPGs with graphics from 5 yars ago..

Did i miss the MMO that has an engine as capable as and as technological advanced as the cryengine3?
    Please enlighten me.

I very much like to know more about that game! Oh wait, just some trolls making things up about archeage beeing dated.

    Playing: EVE Online
Wants to play: ArcheAge, Lineage Eternal: Twilight Resistance / Star Citizen / FFXIV AAR / Neverwinter

Used to play for 5+ years: Lineage 2, Lord of the Rings Online and Ragnarok Online

Utter disappointing MMO experience for 1 - 3 Months:
    WAR / AoC / SWTOR / RIFT / AION / STO / TSW / GW2 / GW / Vanguard / Planetside2

     Just courious,

     You guys demaning 2012-2013 graphics,

Do you understand how much work is involved with making art assets for these games?

If they listened to you guys they would never release anything, because they would always be trying to improve the graphics so much that by the time they do, what they've done is outdated.

If you have a way to create badass graphics faster you should be chatting up these Devs, because they sure as hell would love it, and would pay for that kind of tech.

If you have no clue at all about it, then please don't demand something you have very little knowledge of.

actually yes i do and its really not that much work..

High res textures and so on are pretty quick and easy to do.. and say for Cryengine you want some of the advanced features.. normal maps, spec maps, POM.. takes me less than 30 mins to convert a texture from a photo into a textrue ready to be used and i have no training in such things its just stuff i tought myself.

Using a texture file from CGtexures a low res one as at the time i did not have a full account with them, but it took me no time at al lto prep it ready for use in Cryengine and other engines and that was crating the height texture for the POM myself.

Anyway im sure someone with actual proper training could do somthing 20x better in the same amount of time.

Now i have only done basic things with 3d modeling myself but again its not massivly time consuming to make a good looknig asset. Maybe a week or so of just working on a model..

When you have dev time of years and years then i expect to see high quality assets and textures..
