in Guild Wars
....ever buy gold or items before for real money? I'm not going to list any sites or anything, just would like to get peoples opinion on this. I myself have bought gold before as I can never seem to make a profit when I play but I have never bought any items.
Currently playing: World of Warcraft. Love the Recruit a Friend program!

--------------. no way i would ever buy things in GW for real money.... u can always buy it for the GW gold and why spend real money on it the. that would just be stupid...
Not everyone has the time to go out farming or play for hours at a time so therefore when it comes to getting new armour or decent weapons it is kinda hard. I play enough to get decent items and my guild helps me out to. However, I seem to spend more gold than earn it so I bought a bit to keep up.

It's not hard to get good items... you go to a guild wars site... click on collectors... find your items then go in game and farm for 1hour maybe... or pay 500g to get the collector items in trade.
Ok, I am not a hardcore player on any game. But I would never buy, and I never have. Its unfair. Like you said, "You dont have hours to farm". So why should people use their own free time to farm gold on WOW when ebayers just get it in the click of the button? Why did I spend weeks getting my character to 60? IGE will get it to 60 in a week for only $300!
Also, unless the terms of conditions states otherwise, this is illegal like hacking, duping etc. Why do people complain about hackers when they are ebaying items? Both are illegal, both are fair. Damn, I could say I hack because I dont have time to plan combos or learn how to play.
That's an interesting, but true point. I'm sure some people have used that excuse.
I find it pretty lame to begin with.... But in a game like GW where items/equipments mean absolutly nothing its just FAR from worth it anyways.
I could understand (even though i dont agree) ppl willing to pitch in a little more money for items in some grindy MMOs that take hours and hours of grind to get anything good. But in GW, items are all the same... You can get a collector item thats gonna take you 10mins to get. And its gonna be as good as that "uber l337 godly" weap ppl are selling over ebay. Its simply not worth it at all.
First of all to answer the topic question...No, I would never purchase items for a game with real life cash, especially not in Guild Wars. In a game where levels don't matter and you can get just about any item you want quickly, there is no need.
Secondly...Gargantroo...why do you insist on posting in the Guild Wars forum, especially when you are just going to bring up WoW. We already know how you feel about the game because of this quote in a currently active topic:
"I asked my friend if I could borrow his account to test it out and it was possibly the biggest piece of crap out there. If you are looking for a good game but don't want to play monthly fees, your STILL looking in the wrong direction.
Total crap. ET for the Atari was better in the 80s then Guild Wars is now."
I seriously do not understand why you even look at the Guild Wars forum when you have such strong emotions against the game. I hope it is all one big facade and that you actually enjoy playing both games. Both games are extremely different and I can see more people actually thinking about purchasing items in WoW for cash because of the time commitment necessary to get the uber gear. I am not saying it is the longest grind or the most difficult game to get the best gear in, I am just saying that it does take a little longer than in GW.
Enjoy whatever games you play....if you dont, dont play them....

Its called trolling
I've come across a few players that were dead broke one day and owning guild halls the next. I know it would have taken a long time to acquire 50k throught the game, but isn't that why we play the games. To live in another world separate from the one we are always in. You are suppose to emerce yourself in these games and while playing, only living there and keeping all other realities separate. So what if it takes a long time to acquire a Guild Hall or find a high level item...IT IS SUPPOSE TOO!!!
If players are going to take a short cuts and cheat by buying game gold and items without earning them, why not take the next step? Why not hack other games for their items? I'm sure the Char would not stand a chance with a good blaster by your side, you would never have to team up again and share XP.
NEVER! Why play the game if you're gonna cheat your way in.
But for re-sale purposes... sure, why not?
