Similar animations are not something broken. There is not that many ways to shoot a gun. If you want your character to make backflips while doing stuff please take it to your korean MMOs and leave my non ridiculous game alone.

The nonridiculous animations are a huge part of why i enjoy TSW. Coupled with the depth of character building and skills you use in particular fights it makes for the best combat system in any MMO.

If you want combat to look flashy or like some kind of an action movie there are other games out there for you.

People tend to think, that animations in every game have to be blinky, shiny double backflips with enormous guns/weapons. For these people there is this game called TERA.

    Hodor!

They aren't similar, they literally use the same animation for many skills.  And no, you can create some variety without being overly flashy, it's not that hard, it just takes more work than they apparently deemed necessary.

A lot of TSWs animations are just plain low quality too.  I love the game, but defending its animations is pretty ridiculous IMO. They just aren't well done in many cases.

its not that i dislike the system i kinda just dislike complete freeform game designs because, it saps the ability to give diffrent style of play unique functions, otherwise people all min/max by puling only the best skills. this leads to most powers working the same and just haveing diffrent animations.

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage
Proper Grammer & spelling are extra, corrections will be LOL at.

The depth of the system could use some work but overall is fine. The problem is I just find the combat incredibly unexciting. Call it animations or whatever you please, but its freaking boring. Its hard to be more descriptive... I suppose a start would be the animations.

The wheel is ok, after you have good amount of skills. Similar ot gw1 skill system. The combat itself is horrible and extreamly boring. Its so bad it stops me from logging in... which make me sad, because I like the quest system.

The wheel? Its fine. Nothing amazing. Personally I think GW1 did a better open skill system.

Animations? Varies. Some weapons look great, others look terrible. Thank god Elemental skills are nearly worthless, because they are the worst offenders. Who knew that clapping like a retarded seal invoked magical powers?

Blood magic and chaos magic on the other hand are quite decent.

Builders and consumers.... yeah... its ok. Gets a bit tedious though. I prefer skills to be a bit more meaningful in when you use them, rather than spamming builders and consumers.

I chose the top option because I do love the wheel and I'm fine with most of the animations, but I have to say that I think whoever designed the chaos movements was having a very uninspired day. There are a few abilities I use as a tank that even look the same. The only way for me to tell the difference between Karma and Escalation is to look carefully at the green ring. One is denser and broader. That's all the difference I see. These aren't the only two I have broblems with, and I really hope they improve them as I'm really enjoying both my farming build (chaos fist) and my tank build (chaos hammer). The rest of weapons seem fine to me - the Quantum Bracer is a stand out awesome success imo and I can't wait for the whip.

The combat is terrible. I have posted on here before about this, especially melee combat.

The developers must have been watching a drunk trying to swat a fly when they penned the animations. There is simply no feedback during melee combat. This is one of the major, if not biggest problems with the game. You may as well be watching a youtube vidoe of someone else playing for all the feedback you get.

As for the ability wheel - why?

How you pick skills is not a core part of a game. It is just something you have to do, then get back into playing your character in the game.

In the end what do a lot of people do in any mmo? - look up the cookie cutter build for their class - build those skills and off they go. So why spend all the time with a user unfriendly hodge podge of wheels and poorly presented histogram bars.

The latter wouldn't be too difficult to change, just reformat a couple of screens.  But the work needed to fix the combat is significant and as the company does not appear to have either the resource or the money, then I don't hold out any hope for any improvements being actioned.

Judge's Verdict - good idea, major flaws.

The anima wheel is a good concept, but imho poorly executed. I experimented with quite a lot of different builds, only to find out that a large amount of them were basically useless, because a good portion of the ability wheel is just not on par with the rest. Everyone ran the same few builds in PvP because of this, and everyone looked for the same types of builds in PvE because of this.

I dunno if they've fixed this yet, but the customized loadout was also VERY buggy, something swapping your abilities without properly swapping your equipment to match. In addition to this, the animations are fairly bad by industry standards. However, I think the biggest thing about the combat in this game that needs work is the ability wheel.

Like I said, I like the concept of it, but imho it's a missed opportunity with this game.

I was so excited for TSW. It was everything I had been looking for in an MMO. Setting, story, combat mechanics, gameplay, etc.

Then I played it and it...was...so...boring...

Just because all the right peices are there, it doesn't guarantee success.
