Tiny requests from DAoC players

Personnally, there is a few small things i would like to be present on CU, and i'm not talking about huge thingsto implement / remake, just tiny stuffs for old DAoC players.

 

But lets all put ONE thing that we'd like.

 

For me Here it is :

- use the old server names from back in the early days, it would help every old players that will be coming back to find each other again.

    Melee and caster combat system.

     

    IE. Style chains based on positioning, parry/block/evade type reactions.

    Stick / face functionality with interuptable spell casters.

    Ozek - DAOC
    Niix - Other games that sucked

    Type of weapon damage having bonus/malus on armour types (piercing against chainmail, blunt against plate, etc).

    Better "fantasy" based realism.

     

    - No steampunk (I.E rifles) just to try and get those few extra people who like that stuff.

    - No swords that are 3x the height of the person and just as wide.

    - No wow-style shoulder armor that are obsurdly large.

    - Etc.

    Good idea on the server names.  Would be nice to maybe find my old guild on Nimue .  I would ask that we get something like old frontiers.  I hated NF.  Give me the old alb wall battles in emain.  and lastly i ask that infs not have higher skill points per lvl over nightshades and shadowblades. ooo wait final note...berserkers should turn into wolf men and not bears....thanks

     

    if i have to pick one ill take old frontiers....i could just roll and inf lol

    This made me chuckle. I had the same conversation with our lead concept artist. It pretty much boiled down to "Look at WoW and don't do it that way for CU." :)

    I like most of the things that have been listed. Here's one that isn't:

    • Ability to select a last name after character creation that can be changed every so often.

    Thank you Mark. The armor of these new MMOs (I am old school MMO). Its seems after WoW was launch all the other ideas for MMOs went out the window. It seems like WoW is the "cookie cutter" MMO most go after to develop now a days. I am just glad you are a true chef and can make you own recipes for a delicious three coarse meal for a hungry niche MMO community.

    It should've boiled down to "You're Fired."

     

    - Also, my one request would be:  Improve the necro. They had so much potential 2 be good in PvP with the "invincible caster" idea, but the pathing was messed up, the pets went down too easily, etc. If that main lifetap the pet had was given to the caster, for example, that'd work. Good concept, but didn't work out in concept... I'd like to see it work. :)

    I did really like RP servers in DAOC, more for the name rules than anything.

     

    I wasn't hardcore RP or anything, and most people weren't, it just kept all the 133t names out of character names, and I found people to at least a little bit try to pretend they are their character.

     

    I felt it drew a politer / more invested crowd.

     

    So at least consider some RP servers (goes very well with the IP too I feel).

    I agree. I would rather have RP enabled servers, or more importantly, a strict naming policy server, than my prevoius /faceloc request.  There's nothing more annoying than seeing someone with a stupid name running around inside my rpg game.

    Good question, will there be a Rp server? I loved Guinevere, so many people were in character all the time, it was awesome.
