Though I didn't read every reply, I think I only saw a few examples of games that supposedly did emmersion better than GW2. Lotro and WoW. I'm currently playing Lotro (again) and their environments are still incredible, but their character animations are a complete turn off. Always have been, but GW2's animations at least follow the 12 principles of animation and are very fluid and give the illusion of life. On the other hand, WoW has great animation but the world is hard to get emmersed into now due to it's low poly count for todays standards. Back in 2005 it was a different story.
GW2 so far is the superior game for emmersion when it comes to both animation and game environment, hands down. Any other examples that people have to compare?

Their recent patch on the 26th has created a massive disparity between players with the new guild perks. See this thread, and in particular this post which succinctly explains the issue.
The general concern at this point is their hyped vision of "no grind" and "playing the game your way" has been discarded and the people running the show now have a completely different agenda. The concern is that the outcry from the community isn't being listened to (eg Ascended gear mega thread) at all and they are just plugging along making changes and "improvements" that are diverging further and further away from the game people signed up for, from what they promised would be different from the other games.
So, with this WvW patch I hope for their sakes that they don't frak it up. The guild missions aspect of this latest patch was an absolute fail.
so before patch big complaint is game has nothing to work for at end game and needs more systems to keep players interested long term.. after patch game should have no systems that require any time to work towards and you should instantly have everything available at any time with no lengthy work involved at all...
anet never claimed "no grind" ever and you can very much "play the game your way"(whatever that means as obviouslly it has very differn't meaning for everyone it seems))
I know your stance on ANet and GW2 so I'm not going to get into a senseless back and forth with you. It would be a complete waste of my time to indulge and feed you.
I would suggest that anyone who is interested in what is going on with this latest patch to read that thread. The limited scope of "instantly having everything available at any time" is only expressed by a limited few, usually the same predictable posters, and has nothing at all to do with what the community's concerns and outrage are about.
So, with the WvW patch next month..I hope they don't mess it up like they did with this patch.
again its funny how people feel the vocal minority on the forums speak for the game population as a whole.. they gave the game a progression system for guilds to work for somethng and they gave ALL players in the game oppurtunities to try out and enjoy any of the new content once guilds unlock it... unlike most other MMOs that completely segregate content IE adding in only raids at least they are adding content anyone in the game can enjoy and try even if you are in a small guild , large guild, or no guild at all
read that post all he is doing is making assumptions on what may/could happen with no actual truth/facts to back up his "worries".. he also mentioned small guilds being barred from doing the events which is not true at all

Too little, too late. WvW really needs more maps, more randomness. Slapping on progression after most of us already burned out on WvW does absolutely nothing.

considering how long it takes most MMOs to get out a tiny sPVP type maps i probably wouldn't expect any new WvW maps till the expansion or at least another several months

yep, I am not really into the PvP aspect but love the content patches for the PvE. Reminds me of LoTRO before Turbine sold out.
What do you mean sold out? When it went f2p? I stopped playing before the Mines of Moria xpac. I was in the beta, but never did buy the xpac. And you're right, it does remind me of lotro with all these content updates. It was one thing i admired of Turbine with lotro.

Lol, yeh I did. I need to keep track of my browser tabs better. Oh well..
Yippy doo. New titles and no real game changers. You wil still be doing the same old boring snooze fest WvW with exploiters galore. Pass. Make some new maps and maybe ill put this silly game back on my PC (as if).

I think they are trying to avoid "i'm rank 99 WvW so I own everybody no matter what" situations. Which is good, the whole point of this game is everyone playing together, not certain people destroying everyone not on the exact same level as they are.
If that's how their expansions look like in size and scope, I don't see many people buying them. So far, their 'expansions worth of content' promises were just that. ANet is pretty good at creating hype and pretty good at not delivering. And don't tell me the "living" story is actually alive.
I think the phrase 'to little, to late' comes to mind. Still waiting for my 'expansions worth of content' that was promised in December.
But you can carry 1 more supply in WvW......wow who gives a @#$%. That was ceritanly worth waiting 7 months for. But they fixed culling, wow amazing they fixed a bug that should have never been in the game in the first place 7 months after release........*slow clapping.
If GW2 was run by another much more competent group since release, the game would not be the big turd it is today. But at least they have plush animal backpacks, very important.

i play mesmer, guardian, ranger, necro, thief, and ele.. everyone has WAY more than one viable build.. infact i change builds all the time and all the ones I have put together are more than viable for PVP or PVE.. actually one of my favorite things about the game is how many viable builds the classes have

WvW is made with PvE gear in mind and most people are either low level or squishy because they all want to do more damage and see higher numbers. Even the Warrior that's doing the 26K crits will get critted for 26k himself. It's a common occurence in WvW even when you're specced for balance.
Not impressed with the big WvW changes they were working on. Passive abilities and titles, doesn t really change how it was played. Man I can t wait for CU for my RvR fix.

honestly just not too impressed with this reply... i mean it lacks the contextual stimulation i look for in a post and is devoid of anything that would keep me reading or want me to continue to read. I will be scouring the forums in hopes one day i will find such post that will excite my senses and feed that fix. i thought I found that post one day but after picking it apart, followed by months of soul searching, heavy drinking, and a dose of spiritual enlightment i came to the conclusion I forgot how to enjoy reading posts...

I agree some of the passives are lackluster but the system is in place and I have a feeling they will continue to add in new world vs world abilities over different patches. Personally when they remake the borderlands maps and remove the lake in the center , I think you will have 3 new maps with alot of skirmish going on towards the center of the maps and those passives like reduced damage etc will play a much larger role.
This system is designed for long term rewards and progression in world vs world , not a power grab to make you have some huge edge over other players. I personally like they are finally admitting defeat and adding in realm abilities like DAOC. If people here recall Mike Fergeson was avidly saying no realm abilites would be added to the game or realm ranks like DAOC had so they have now finally admited the fans were right and are adding them in. Thats a good step in the right direction and I think World vs World will continue to grow over time.
I can't believe nobody is asking the one question everyone still playing the game would like to know - or should like to know: will any of these progession changes be retroactive? Will players get any new abilities based on their current experience? I'm guessing no, because AN has yet to implement anything else in that fashion, but it would be nice.
Please stop game companies from adding another experience bar. I already have 2 and I'm tired of leveling up. Can you give us some actual factual end game content?
ANET alrady added veritcal progression to the entire game with their ascension patch, which is why and when I quit. Sorry, but I can't be bothered to sit in the same dungeon for days just to get gear. It boring. Yes I know they added or will add other ways to get said gear, but it was too late and also proved that you will want said gear for every type of play style.
But if this is there WvW patch then I guess ANET doesn't get why people play WvW

Sure you can.
You just have to view things in a 3d perspective.
Forward, sideways, backwards are all the same thing. You can have lateral and still progress. The term bugged me when I read it too, but after a bit it makes sense.
You have your main levels and then side stuff. Like spvp/wvwvw etc.
That's pretty lateral.
One direction or another it doesn't matter. You still progress if you so much as move.
