How international is the player base of EQ2?

carbonelcarbonel Member Posts: 42

I am looking for a fun MMO with a complex game economy that brings together players from around the world. I know that EVE Online is fairly global, but I'm hoping to find something with a smoother learning curve.

Can anyone comment on the international dimensions of the player base in EQ 2? What countries are represented? Are there special international servers? Is it possible for players from Asia, North America and Europe to interact on the same server?

As far as I know there aren't any "international" servers (for latency issues). However, the American servers are pretty diverse. In my guild alone, although most people are from America we also have people from:

    Britain
    Germany
    France
    Sweden
    Canada
    Mexico

Those are just the ones I can think of (meaning mainly the ones that are active in the guild). Also, although I'm not aware of anyone from the Middle East or Asia, we do have several people FROM those areas of the world living in America or Europe. Theres a guy in our guild from Vietnam and a couple form China/Japan.

That's a tough one to answer for me but I'll do my best. There are two designated European servers, splitpaw and runnyeye if I remember correctly. Not sure if they are located in Europe but I know that there are people from Australia on my server Antonia Bayle. Hope that helps if only a bit.image

But they aint "in" germany or france, they are located in the US right? They have a diffrent patching schedule, normally some hours after the US servers get patched. For me the patch time on US servers is about when I drive home from work, so its perfect :p

Those are both in Amsterdam, the Netherlands if I'm not mistaken. (And I think the other European servers are too) But still, aye. English speaking servers.

xminator, I think those servers are located in Amsterdam.

Edit: Just looked it up. All Sony Europe servers are located in Amsterdam.

Even the american servers have a fairly international bunch of people.  I hear that is because the Euro servers get updates late if ever though.  As far as the learning curve goes.. well the combat is a steady slope but crafting can be deadly lol.

No idea actually. The last thing on my mind when I group up is where they are from. When I am in an MMO they are just other MMO players like me.
