On a side note, I really don't think we will see as many Drizzts as people think. We might still see the Leeegolas and Aaaragorns though. I will be making my Mezo Renegade but he will be a Wizard.
Although, Drizzt was originally intended to be a Wizard but I believe his father convinced them to let him train Drizzt as a Fighter.
This thread is so wrong, because it's basically someone trying to bring RP nerdiness into a mmo, but failing at it because he's wrong even as RP nerd.
So here's a couple of facts about Forgotten Realms for you:
- Drow are not always evil. They can be neutral, and good. I'm not speaking of super-rare cases like Drizzt. There is even a goddess for good aligned drow. Her name is Eilistraee. Google it. And yeah, she's dead in 4th Edition, but that didn't suddenly turn all her followers into evil murderers. In fact, her sacrifice gained passage for all good-aligned drow into Avandor.
- I could say a couple of dozens of examples to point out how any race can be evil, but I'll pick the god that is universally known as the most tyrant and evil in Forgotten Realms - Bane. His followers are almost exclusively humans.
So, what were you saying? In any case, all points about what PvP should be based on Forgotten Realms lore are moot. End of the day it's a mmo and PvP will be exactly what the devs need it to be so it can be balanced and enjoyable. No more, no less.
My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

Dude, it's a joke thread. Because people playing Drow because they're uber cool is lame.

Its no secret that post spellplague, the drows have been coming out. These drows are those who have rebelled against Lolth. They are very devious but not necessaraly evil like most drow heroes in forgotten realms novels (Lliriel drizzt etc.)
However, 4e also makes it clear that "normal" PC are non-evil drow. This is because an NPC can usually only be(barring exception allowed by DM) one who rebelled against Lolth.
Those who worship lolth come out to surface as NPC only to raid villages or as monsters to kill the party.
Add in to the fact that normal campaigns always consider PC to be non-eil ever since AD&D, again which was put in words in PHB that 'normal' campaigns are for non-evil NPC only and players need permission of DM to roll eil PC.
Hence the statement that drow players are evil is a fallacy.

Sorry, it was more a joke than anything. And I admit i'm behind in the lore. Most of my Forgotten Realms knowledge comes from R.A. Salvatore books I started with Dark Elf Trilogy and read the first like 8 books I think? As I recall in those books, during that period it was extremely rare if not unheard of to see a non-evil Drow. It's not surprising if things have changed since then.
And I know its an MMO, but its also an MMORPG so there is still roleplaying. I also know the PvP will be what the devs need it to be, trust me, i'm not as anal as most RP nerds. I'm willing to accept a lot. Was just a funny little musing I had and thought some people might get some entertainment out of that idea.

Thank you for realizing its a joke, but Drow are uber cool! I will admit I fell in love with Drizzt when I read Salvatores books. Drow in themselves do have some awesome lore though.
I kinda hate that theres this automatic stigma on anyone who likes drow now though. Its the same stigma put on elf players and Legolas. Though the truth is most people play humans in every MMO out there. Even WoW with all the Blood Elf haters, Humans are STILL more common by a long shot.
I know my brother hates all elves with a passion though he's a Dwarf guy, Dark, High, Wood. I've always loved elves though ever since I first read Lord of the Rings and played EverQuest 1. A lot of MMOs have really ugly elven models though sadly. But they are just really cool fascinating races to me of all types!
I do plan to make my main a Drow Wizard, and a Teifling Rogue alt since I fell in love with it in beta. Since I have 6 slots i'll prly do a Half Orc Great Weapon Fighter, a Dwarf Guardian Fighter. And maybe...something Cleric but i'm not sure I like the Cleric that much. I do have to make an Elf something eventually lol. Maybe i'll wait for Warlock. =D

Eh, no harm done, and I apologize if I was harsh towards you.
You unjustly paid for all the silly RP nerds that are trying to sabotage NWO because it won't be an exact copy/paste from Pen and Paper, without realizing that NWO is a mmo that needs to cater to about every player of the world to succeed, not only a bunch of RP nerds that spend sunny summer afternoons secluded in a basement throwing die.
My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

The problem with the elves is that they are always singled out for every horrible torture the moment they are captured. Save an elf girl from orc - what picture do you get? That versus a dwarf woman rescued from orc camp ... ... ... ...
The elves are just too weak to be portrayed in any fantasy story. So they have to prove the "Inner Strength" of elves by subjecting them to torture, destruction of their home or other such thing. That converts most elvish characters into emo. That way, they just don't work out well in most of the stories. If only writers don't always think it is neccesary to prove an elv strong by subjecting them to such kind of extree circumstances, maybe their reputation will improve. But it is a vicious circle hard to break.

LOL at this thread because I agree.
Nothing against Drow Players. More of an issue with seeing Drow everywhere. A bit of immersion break for me.

Ok lets say you get a ding sound every time one is made. There will be a continuous one long ding.

There is a great fallacy in this argument.
