in Star Wars Galaxies

Does anyone know if there's a free trial to SWG?

And if so, how to get it?

The only thing I have been able to find is a link to fileplanet where it says it's inactive..something about june 2004...

How do they think they'll get more players if they don't let you test it?

First ones for free..every dealer knows that ::::35::

    Yep, on the 15th, ie tomorrow, you'll be able to download a free trial of SWG :)  Well, might not be on the 15th, could be a day or two after just depends on how the publish goes for the NGE.

    Heh, you gotta earn that Stormy Armor boy image  You'll need to get to a level where you can first wear armor (not sure what the is post-NGE sorry, will need to find out myself) and then you'll need to have enough Imperial Faction to bio-link it to you.  A tip, go to a city/planet that is strongly Imperial aligned to bio-link it, it uses less faction points :)  Post NGE it won't be such a chore to have factioned armor as it won't decay image.

    Will this be downloadable from SOE or will FilePlanet host it aswell maybe ?

    I honestly don't know.  The last two were done through FilePlanet so it might be the same (I hope not, Fileplanet sucks :( )

    Tutorial area (Ord Mantell space stations and space sector) and Space expansion.

    The basic game is not included (10 planets), and neither are the 2 planet/quest expansions (Kashyyk, Mustafar).

    The trial is for level 1-10 only.  The only expantion where you'd not be one shotted is JTL, which is now standard with the game.  So no, other than JTL they won't be.

    I guess a content limited trial just didn't cross my mind at the time someone mentioned a trial was comming today... I guess time limited trials is not modern anymore...

    I'd prefare a time limited trial though :/

    Anyways got 15 mins left for the download...

    How do you guys like the new hp? I think the old one was better ::::21::

    Well the content restriction is only RotW and ToOW.  Which to be fair, you could do the remaining if grouped.  As defences are raised to that of the highest group member.  Not that you'd be much use with a newbie weapon.

    You should be able to try out all the proffesions to, which may not have been possible with a time limited trial.

    Hmm... the hp seems to be down right now... at least to me.
    But they've made a new design

    Yeah, prefer the old website.  Was more direct and don't like how there are no profession (or class) forums.

    Anyways from what I've found on the official website it's only a 10 days trial... it don't say anything about limited content... correct me if im wrong.

    Also it says:
    "Download the 10 days trial offer now and recieve the first 10 levels of the all new Star Wars Galaxies: Starter kit!"
    Wha? I missed something there... what is that?

    Hmm, yeah.  They added a time limit restirction in addition to the first 10 levels.

    BTW, the "all new Star Wars Galaxies: Starter kit" is just SWG and JTL.  It doesn't include RotW or ToOW.  So that sentance you quoted says it all really.

    If you end up buying the retail, I'd recommend getting "SWG: The Total Experience" as it includes RotW and will patch to include all the changes that are going live today.  Although will take some time, especially if not on broadband.

    During test it was said that the free trial was limited to the Ord Mantell area. One of the reasons was also that people would NOT need to download 3 Gigabyte (the basic game + JTL) but a smaller version that downloads faster.

    However ... my information is from NGE Beta ... let me know about the REAL content of the free trial once you get it up and running (if all the 10 planets from the basic game ARE included or if its limited to Ord Mantell as announced in Beta).
