OK so now I've downloaded the 14-day trial and it says ( when I first started the game ) 'Cold War Edition. And when I look at he EVE main site I see a banner wich says 'Exodus'.
Now what is up with this, can I download Exodus when I become a paying member or do I need to pay extra for it or can I download it when I pay the 19.95 euro to buy an account?
Thanks in advance,
Robert.

Every eve expansion is free. You can download them all when you buy an account. The next expansion will be Red Moon Rising, cant wait for that one
Edit: Actually you dont need to download them as they will be downloaded automatically when you patch the game to tis current version.

Ahh great, thanks alot and thanks for the quick reply.
When will that new expansion be ready to DL ?
The next 'expansion' is due out in mid December 2005, thats right, next month!
With Eve the expansions are mandatory, but FREE, updates to the game. It will come out as a patch that will download automatically when you log in on the day of release.

A few weeks before that, you can check out the new features on the test server. Assuming that you activated your account before the last mirror (I'm not sure when the last one happened, so if it was more than two weeks ago, current trials won't work) you can select the Singularity server on the log in screen.
Before doing that, however, you must do the following:
Make a copy of your Eve directory. I just copy the whole Eve folder in the CCP directory and name it Singularity...
Go to the Eve download page and check out the test patches. These have to be downloaded manually and applied in the proper order.
Make sure that you are applying the patched to the Singularity copy. If you apply them to your main install, it will not work on Tranquility and you will have to reinstall. This may also corrupt you settings to the current version, so you'll loose them in the precesss.

Anyways, enjoy!
Exodus, and Coldwar Edition, are included in the download if I remember correctly.

I live to fight, and fight to live.
eve "Expansions" are just big patches with names, that tend to add more new things, a ton more bugs and most popular existing equipment gets nerfed to hell to make way for the new stuff.
...and introduce about 4 days extra downtime every time they apply one
Red Moon Rsing is going to be LagFest 5000, remember when exodus came out? getting connected was so much of a competition they shouldve given out prizes to the people that made teh character select screen.
There were only 2 expansions to Eve till now: Castor and Exodus.
The "Cold War Edition" is just a big content update/patch but not that "huge" to be called an expansion.
The diference is that an expansion adds masive changes to the game mechanics and not only to the content (graphics, sounds, HUD, UI, etc).
The "Red Moon Rising" is a big content update but not an expansion. The next schedulled expansion is in the summer of the 2006 and its called Kali.
Wow, cool all these regular patches and updates. Seems like it's not so 'ok game is done let's just mantain the servers now', I like that!
Anyway thanks for the info, so don´t get me if I´m wrong but if I buy an acc. I can immediately download all the expansions patches whatsoever so my EVE will be completely up to date?
And another thing, what should I think when talking about new stuff and equipment being added to this game. IE: new ships or new items or maybe new space stations?
Cheers!
Well, basically all additions in EVE are good, ie CCP tries to expand on the possibilities in game as fast as their time and capacities allow. Another matter are the balancing changes. Some like them some not - but I guess it's the same in every game.------------------------------------------------------

Aye, every patch alters the game considerably from my experience. In exodus we got Dreadnaught and Freighter class ships added to the game. We also recieved the means in which to create Outposts and Player owned stations. In Reed Moon Rising well get carriers and other nifty ships to add to our fleets and naturally lots of content, balance tweaks, new skills, nerfs and boosts etc etc.

Now I can't wait for RMR either :P.

dont u dare start playing MMORPG unless u want to be hooked
All EVE expansions are free. Think of them like major content patches rather than expansions.

updates FTW
Uhm *confused*..
So bassicly all I have to do is upgrade my account ( free to paying ) and everything should show itself.
And how do I know if I have the complete game and that I'm not missing any expansions/updates?
Actually if your playing the Trial you already have the full build.
No downloading, all you do is stump up th readies and your off.
Exodus is the current Expansion (Kali is the codename of the next one, due 2006)
Cold war is a major content patch (next one is Red Moon rising)
So, technically, you are playing both
Eve doesn't really work like other MMO's so its a little hard to compare.
But the basic thing is, you will never have to worry about expansions as they will always be free.
CCP are fairly unique in that they don't charge you for new content, you just get it. The fact they're rarely down outside the 1h daily scheduled maintenance periods is also nice (the exceptions being major content upgrades).
