Well, because originally we wanted to launch later this week but we're not doing that. I could have just let that slip by entirely but that would be lying so...
The other reason was that I really wanted people here and the other sites to know how important their feedback has been to me and to CSE. As I've said here and elsewhere, I want this dialogue to continue not only now but post-KS as well.

I understand where you are coming from, but I would hope most of us excited for CU are mature enough that a week or two delay of the Kickstarter won't cause any tidal waves.
I think you are making the right call here. Always put your very best foot forward. Taking the time to get it right the first time should never be considered a bad thing.

There are people looking for a reason to say something negative about the game (that is still on the drawing board).. So Mark is being thorough and proactive

It's appreciated. Can never have too much communication. Very much looking forward to the kickstarter, and even moreso the results of all the hard work you guys will be putting into this game over the next few years.
Lots of exciting things coming down the path for gamers thanks to Kickstarter. C.U., the new "wing commander" style game from Roberts, and Oculus VR. I'm sure with your reputation you could've made this game without Kickstarter, but it's nice to know that it's giving you the freedom to fully pursue the game you want, not a game influenced by producers. I truly think EA is the worst thing to happen to games in years. They've ruined so many gaming companies and franchises now in the name of short term profits.
Really hoping to see virtual reality continue to grow and come into the realm of MMOs. Would love to someday see a full axis treadmill, immersive virtual reality, and an awesome fantasy MMO come together. The only downside I can see to something like that is the loss of about 25% of the U.S. GDP as a result.
No need to apologize, Mark. March is March. But I guess this only shows Mark is Mark too :-) Nice to see you keeping up the unique communication with the community. I cannot see people do anything but to appreciate it.
After this post I must say that you are totally different from all developers. All that interaction with the community cannot be compared to any other dev. Really i just damn love it. And i beg you to make this game. I'm sure that you will do the thing that me and many other people want. This game that we are all missing. That cannot be done by other teams. And you will do it only if you are independent. You have this chance and ability. You have my sword on kickstarter and I will try to comment as much regarding CU as I can. At least I feel that it's being read by someone who has big influence on game and it might be heared. Good luck Mark.
If I was MJ, and even if my Kickstarter presentation was ready to go, I would wait a little until the Richard Garriot KS had come and gone.
Asking a similar audience to fund two large and hype heavy projects in the same month is bound to be risky. I'd wait for clear space to be able to shine.

I'm so happy to see the dialogue between MJ and the community. I truly am.
MJ, remember that you have the power to make the dream of a forgotten niche of players come true.
I want to be involved in the Dev of CU as much as possible, inside the first beta, and on the forums since the begining.
Good work, CSE!! Keep it up!!
