How to improve the game

The game espescially the story part, the classdesign, the companions and the crewskills are pretty fun.

But some things feel really outdated , combat should be a little more active, mobs AI needs an update, and standard non story driven quests could be replaced by a kind of area event. On top of that they should add a 3rd faction, starting at lvl 50,, which would be more like a neutral one. And the add PvP events to the open worldzones.

If they would add more stories from level 50 tied to those 3 factions it would cost way less then adding stories for every class.

p

cant wayt to see an expansion that would add more of moderndays mmo features, i think everyone would love to see an up to date starwars game, that allows for more then just enjoying the stories.

But then maybe its just me and is everyone else currently playing happy as it is.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I think the game needs cross-faction play. Like Jedi turning to the dark side, and vice versa. And I dont mean just being able to do dark stuff, I mean you get a whole new quest line to follow. Like, at the end of the current story, if the Jedi has at least certain ammoint of dark points, he gets kicked out of the order and has the choice to join the Sith or go nuetral, and thus fllow a completely different story line from those that stayed good.

I'm having fun leveling.  But that's the thing.  Leveling is the most fun in this game.  The ultimate carrot on a stick is your class story throughout the planetary questing.  The class quests are strategically placed near all the quest hubs, making it silly to ignore the side quests.  Companions and their individual quirks, conversations, romances, and sometimes hilarious combat quotes (Talos comes to mind) just add to the fun of leveling.

After leveling: that's where the complaining, boredom, exiles, exhausting new content happens.  It's the nature of themepark MMO's.  They're only as good as the content they deliver.  What sets WoW apart from most themeparks is the dozens of things to do outside of content publishes.

I'm hopeful there will be Pazaak, Swoop Races, and other nifty non-combat features in the game at some point.

You can play the wish list game with this title, but it's a waste of time (and what they are counting on). The team working on this thing cannot overcome their increasingly poor momentum.

If you don't like this game enough now, it won't meet your standards within any reasonable amount of time. Small cosmetic changes are all that you will see.

Maybe now that Lucas sold the rights, maybe Disney will put out a good game.../sarcasm off

Faild attempt by a great story-game maker to make a MMO. Failed business model by mega game corp. Not worth improving, wont happen anyways, more likley Disney will come through.

Unfortunately, short of a "combat-upgrade", there isn't much that Bioware can do to improve SWTOR.  I will agree thta the crewskills and the story are great, however I stop short of saying the classes are just as good.  This game, from a mechanics and class design standpoint, are age old, polished turd-esque, WOW.  Nothing more.  Bioware should have taken a page of out of the book of Shadowbane, SWG, Secret World, Everquest 2, or any other game that allows you to customize your character beyond the base means.

Personally, I'm tired of the "three-tree" character builds.  They're boring.

Since they won't do that, I'd have to say the following would make SWTOR more enjoyable:

    • Re-design space combat to be closer to SWG's Jump to Light Speed
    • Alternate Advancement Points similar to EQ/EQ2.  Legacy is a step in the right direction, but isn't good enough.
    • 3rd Faction for those that don't want to walk the path of the Whiney Light Side or the Bloodthirsty Dark Side
    • More Ships!!!!
    • Real Player Housing
    • Siege-type PvP to conquer a planet (conquer for Sith, free/liberate for Republic)
    • Improve on the MOD system for gear and weapons.  It's ok, but needs to be a little more robust.
      • I must say, after playing Deadspace 3, anything short of their weapon modifcation system is crap!
    • Dancer Profession!
    • Combat Medic Profession
    • Pistoleer Profession

since wow is the current leader in subs, it makes sense to try and copy them

copying swg, which was struggling, is like your kid looking at the local hobo, and

saying" when i grow up, i want to be just like him"

Thats a bit simplistic, if a gae looks to much like wow, people will just continue playing WoW.

currently mmos are moving towards more dynamic worlds with more action orientated combat, and those are actually two of the things swtor sorly missed out on.

the real strengths that swtor has running for it are its strong storries and companions combined with the strongest IP in the known universe, its an okay game to enjoy from 1 to 50 for most, but there is nothing to keep me going at 50.

Copying WoW, or any game for that matter, is a mistake.  Our market is flooded with wannabes, clones, and just plain ole' crap.  SWTOR is ok, but not great.  The Story is ok, but there isn't enough of it.  Once you hit 50, there isn't much point to continue playing your current character.  Swapping to an alt is fine, but due to the lack of story content for your character, you're forced to do the one that that makes themepark games boring; grind the same old quests AGAIN!

I'm glad more and more games are moving towards more dynamic content and action based combat.  I'm looking forward to some games because of that (Defiance being one of them.  Neverwinter is currently off my radar now due to lack of character depth)

Action based combat is the future. I really enjoy SWToR for the class stories which are a lot of fun. Some of the stories in fp and operations are good as well. Where I really disagreed with Bioware was on the choice of engine and the combat style. The Bioware teams sadly have a lot more experience with the Unreal engine (see Mass Effect 3's excellent multiplayer). SWToR with a Tera (Unreal engine) combat style would have been the way to go imho.

saw these types of suggestions, tons of it, back in 2011 during beta. I was delusional thinking that they would actually listen. Nothing really changed since then.

Don't remember anyone requesting cartel packs or reputation grind.

The game is what it is and it will stay that way, the direction has been set.

it hasn't, it's in fact getting more grindy. F2P makes pvp miserible. PvE is just developing into a endless gear grind and now they added reputation which is just another grind.

Game companies hate to throw good money after bad, and there has been a whole lot of bad money thrown down this particular hole. Don't expect there to be much more in the way of meaningful changes for TOR, it is just going to be left to rot.

with the double xp , new cartel box update.. this game is on a downward spiral.

Bioware has been and continues to be the most selfish development team  i have ever seen. THere are very easy ways to make this game beter and they keep thinking adding shallow , linear content is going to bring in more customers.

The servers are dwindling again, and they are milking what they can.

Customized ships, group instanced ships, a real ranked/incentive based pvp, a space combat that is useful outside of space, ie materials etc. New ships to purchase , entertainers. ITS FUKING STAR WARS AND NO ONE IS EVER IN A CANTINA.

this game could be so much if they actually listened to 10% of their community. Bioware thinks we want to raid / duneon in a game that's 10 years behind on that aspect. If we want to raid/dungeon there are just so many better choices than swtor.  Their biggest mistake is making a game they want us to play. So many ways they could make this game better, but they refuse to deviate from teh rails.

They could do something as simple as what LOTRO did with horse racing. Just add a track to Tatooine with obsticles that we could race on. Doesn't have to be some big update at all. Could have a stadium with a view of some of the track with NPCs and room for players to watch while they wait to race.

Also from LOTRO is a way to run some of the end game stories solo with complanions for a weekley token or something. If they are only expanding the story with HPs and raids, might as well let all players see it. Just take out the high level drops and let the story be the reason to run it in solo form.

Anything other than the raid or die that they are trying now.

Should be good for F2Pers with reduced XP.

I am surprised they did not do this before doing F2P. It would have made levelling alts by doing only main story missions and ignoring the duplicate side quests a lot less annoying, which would have made some people return. Seriosuly I might even resub and do just that, then get the the expansion for $10

But the game is beyond improving to keep loads of people playing for years.
