Yeah, but the problem is some WHINEY guys who just can't believe that a girl pwned them in some game. Pretty ridiculous. But then again, I don't see why girls would bother making whole articles about, instead of just playing the game with somebody who doesn't have a problem with you being a girl.
If a girl spends as much time as a guy on a game then theres little doubting she will have as good skills really. But to be fair, most girls have no interests in game nor are really interested in competitive games. They are however very present in the mmorpg genre as opposed to say the fps genre. Mmorpg can require a lot of socializing and women are appealled by that as part of their nature.

I've never had an in game relationship and i don't plan on it. I have had plenty in game friends that were supposedly girls but i never bothered investigating. Even if a player you're "dating" in game does happen to be a girl, what are the odds of you finding her attractive? No offense to the girls on this site, but the image i have in my head of girl gamers isn't something i'd want to date.
I could be competely wrong. There may be hundreds of thousands of attractive girl gamers who really want to have in game relationships, but i'm gonna stick with real life dating.

That has got to be one of the funniest things I have read in a while. I get a kick out of people who get all worked up about female gamers. Who cares?? Althought I do remember and incident from my past:
My buddies and I have our playstation hooked up and playing one of the fighter games of that time. Now we all thought we were pretty good at this, pulling of different combos and the sort, overall just taking turns beating eachother. After a bit we get tired and my girl friend at the time and her friend decide to sit down and start messing around. We were sitting back eating and drinking (soda's back then) when our collective jaws started to drop. These two button smashing girls were pulling off some of the craziest combos we had all ever seen. Ya'know... at first this entire thread made me want to bash my head against my keyboard, scratch out the panel on my LCD screen and seriously stop comming to this site altogether.
But then I thought to myself, wait a minute here, I need to think this through.
First, I doubt 50% of the guys here even read the article, you probably just saw a nice looking girl and completely forgot how to read, thats IF and a very big IF, you even know how to read complete and well written sentences that do not contain full strings of OMGZZZ, STFU, I pwns U or anything else of the sort. Saddest part about this 50% is that they probably missed out on reading one hell of a well written article by one hell of a player, let alone did they take the time to read the entire Issue of that particular Escapist, which is honestly one of the best they've ever done.
Second, 25% of the guys that came out with winning neanderthol-like comments such as "Pffttt... Welcome to Internet, where guys are guys, girls are guys and kids are FBI." have probably had little no contact with anyone of the opposite gender. Obviously, by their winning personalities, we can clearly see why. Hey guys, here's a hint, if you ever want a female to think your anything worth carring about, you might want to start considering not thinking of us as LOWER LIFE FORMS. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it's a heck of start !
And Third, the last 25% of our winners of pre-pubescentry, the followers of the oh so cool class. Its actually kinda funny... I was playing CS the other day and there was a girl playing (yes it was a girl, she was using voice chat) and i swear she had the attention of half the people on the server. One guy was basically stalking her, asking where she from, her age, after about 3 entire matches he was even going so far as to asking her bra size. It was pretty pathetic, watching some guy try to pick up a girl over CS. Then half of the other guys were so outspoken with her, they would never be talking so much if it was just some guy.

Me and my wife started new characters on a daoc server we were standing at a gate where we log in at and some guy ran by stopped turned around gave my wifes toon 2 plat and a lot of items then went off on his way. I laughed so god damn hard because every server we go to its the same thing over and over I just wait for the nerd to give her gear and gold then we split it. It's amazing how nerdy some players are irl. You can actually hear them getting hard ons through ventrillo or team speak when a chick talks.

Eh, big deal. My WoW raiding group (mixed guild alliance) is made up of about 20% girls...there are usually between 5-12 females on our vent server on any given raid, and only one doesn't talk. Granted, the majority of them are girlfriends/wives/sisters to guys in the group, but they're definitely there, and definitely f*ck around a lot less than most of the guys do.
To the guys that think that girl gamers are a myth, hate to burst your bubble but it's time to grow up. Also, since a lot of them have to go through so much crap from guys, the average girl gamers are actually better than the average guy, from FPSs to MMORPGs.

Errr, I went there but closed it due to lack of interest! I have been gaming with women for years (around or abit before UO), I never considered gender an issue on gaming ability so the article just wasn't appealing at all to me from the start. As a matter of fact I found the front page of it somewhat ignorant and it actually made me not want to read it.

To the guys that think that girl gamers are a myth, hate to burst your bubble but it's time to grow up. Also, since a lot of them have to go through so much crap from guys, the average girl gamers are actually better than the average guy, from FPSs to MMORPGs.

when my post was absolutely riddled with scarcasm. I mean seriously... if you've ever ready any of my replies or threds, can you honestly say I've ever called anyone a punk !... I mean ever ?
Listen, what it boils down too is as a female I can either take threads like this seriously or I can take them with a grain of salt and have a little fun and maybe make a slight point that will escape most but make me happy.
So in turn, please learn identify your own lack of observational skills before you start critisizing someone's lack of understanding of sarcasm. Oh and just to clarify, as to not turn this into some sort of ferris wheel of meanings, sarcasticly replying to a reply regarding my lack of understanding of sarcasm in a post riddled with sarcasm... is not in fact sarcastic in and of itself, more so ironic and certainly not meant to provoke, just simply confirming that I'm fully aware of the presence of sarcasm and can easily enough see it for what it is. Errr, I went there but closed it due to lack of interest! I have been gaming with women for years (around or abit before UO), I never considered gender an issue on gaming ability so the article just wasn't appealing at all to me from the start. As a matter of fact I found the front page of it somewhat ignorant and it actually made me not want to read it.
