Why aren't we crying about water when its more expensive than gas?

Poland Spring water will run you about $2.00-$2.60 depending on the store you get it from
If its a ton more expensive than gasoline why aren't we complaining about that?
Sure we need it to live and all,but still you could make your own water and it would be cheaper in the long run
Even food is way more expensive and we aren't complaining

Haha, my family can buy a 20 pack of bottled water for barely $5. We don't buy that name brand crap either. Also, the average car can carry what, 30-40 gallons of fuel? What's $2.00 times 40? That's $60.00

That's why you always buy in bulk, its cheaper. Also, Gas prices have just now started dropping/ Besides, you can always get water relatively free if you just use your kitchen sink, only buy bottled water if you want to get it really cold and portable, otherwise its a waste of cash.

we dont complain about food becouse different foods have different prices and you pick how much money yu want to spend on food unlike gas which is setup.

The 50 or so gallons of water it takes to fill up your bathtub probably costs 5 or so cents. Do your research before making inaccurate assumptions.

Just to clarify, the average car/suv/truck holds 20-24 , sometimes 26 gallons of fuel. :P

But yeah, we've explained to you why no-one complains about food or water prices, and as Kiamde explained you can fill a 50 gallon bathtub fro 5 cents, meaning water is so much cheaper than gas, not surprising considering earth is mainly water.

why the hell are we having this discussion first of all you must be living with your parents and not paying for either......
the reason we bitch about gas prices is a lot of the time their is no reason for the high prices and a large part of families have bought SUV type things in the past 10 years that are far from fuel efficent.
so if you have 3 kids each one plays sports one of em is in band one is in piane. not to mention you have to go shopping, birthday parties. the list goes on.
so you will be filling the car witha 20-40 gallon tank at least twice a week, at a cost probably minimum 70 bucks per fill
thats why gas is an issue it isnt as much of an issue for people not in this situation but thats the reason its more or less a national crisis.

If you are going to the store and buying a $2.00 bottle of water each time you want water, you have problems. Tap water (or for the sake of it buying a filter for your tap water if you think regular tap harms you) is NO where near as expensive as gas.....not even sure if the OP knows what hes talking about.

As much as you want to argue against it, gas is a necessity in todays commuter based society. I do not want to throw out random numbers, or Kiamde might attack me, but you would have to estimate that a large portion on society drives consistently 30 mins or more to and from their destinations daily. In order to make the money that you have to complain about spending on expensive name brand H20, you have to get to work and back. Expensive water is the luxory of expendable income. Although arguements can be made that bottled water is a necessity in many parts of Los Angeles County.
As already mentioned by a previous poster, the bill adds up with increased responsibilities besides yourself. Kids and work just to name two take huge chunks of peoples wallets because of the gas needed to come through for them. As an example I drive 30 miles to work and 30 miles back home each weekday and 60 miles to my baseball games and 60 miles back on Sunday's. That is 420 miles (no comments) minimum during the week if I go nowhere but those two places. My car has a 14 gallon tank and I get 28 miles per gallon that is 392 miles per fill-up and that is if I push it past E. I am lucky I only have to spend $35-55 per week.
Point being, bottled water is not even worth bringing up because it is not a necessity. You are the one shelling out the dough for it. I know if I need water when I go out, I can get free water just about anywhere I ask, usually a free lemon slice (masking the taste) and there you go.
