There is still a na for alpha players, so people should remember that. I will say, pre-ordering any mmo without having played it or at least read indepth knowledgeable review is just setting yourself up for disappointment and loss of cash.
I did battle with ignorance today, and ignorance won.
To exercise power costs effort and demands courage. That is why so many fail to assert rights to which they are perfectly entitled - because a right is a kind of power but they are too lazy or too cowardly to exercise it. The virtues which cloak these faults are called patience and forbearance.

Having played both, the games feel and play very different to each other. Also firefall doesn't have any pve content yet. All that is in game are just systems tests and will likely change in the future. Without breaking any NDA I can say that while on the surface Defiance has a richer variety of content, the game is not as artistically compelling as Firefall or Tabula Rasa. Also, unlike those games, there is no way to lose territory to mobs. In TR you could lose control points, teleporters and vendors to the bane. Likewise with Firefall, territory can ultimately be lost to enemy forces and has to be regained through combat. Even Rift had such a system. As accomplished as Defiance may be, the lack of this type of feature makes the open world somewhat dull.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

In firefall, everyone has jet packs for one. Its also much more "e-sport" focused (which some of us consider to be a negative). I've liked Firefall since I was first in the endless beta (around 8-9 months now). It has aspects of Tabula Rasa (base offense and defense against the Chosen). Which was one of my favorite parts of TR.

Dynamic sandbox with jetpacks versus psuedo dynamic themepark? Seriously? Sometimes I really think you are trolling.
what's dynamic sandbox in Defiance? sounds like you are only using fluffy words and trolling yourself.
why is Defiance "dynamic sandbox" and Firefall "pseudo dynamic themepark"? explain, with facts please
got my hopes up a just a little, but then it just started to look less strategic than PS2 and more like a basic run'n'gun.
anyone care to comment? im open to hearing another side.

Looks like another PvE care game to me, PvP going on while you go about your business and it can't harm you...bah, bit like GW2, give us a good PvP MMO like WOW used to be 4 years ago.
You will probably never get PVP like WOW in a mainstream RPG game ever again. You only have yourselves to blame for that. Too many rectum-hats thought end-game included cruzing around with a level-capped character one-shotting people trying to quest, then corpse camping them.

Yeah the company had major financial issues. Looking at Trion I do not see the similarities but haters are gonna hate and troll.
Trion had to lay off 1/3 of the staff of its only released game, most likely due to the EoN failure/acquisition. Trion isnt exactly in a position of strength, especially if Defiance doesnt pull in nice revenue for them.
EON is still being developed, trion decided to take the game in house instead of letting petroglyth finish it. Now as for people being laid off, all games go through layoffs once certain teams are nolonger being fully utilised.
Wow went through layoffs after its launch, so did many other games on the market.

I still cant believe with all the facts out there now, especially with Butler and Hartsman out, that people are still clinging to the myth (and it is certainly a myth. and one with zero evidence to back it up) that mass layoffs of long term staff are normal after an expansion release.
And would you care to back up your statement that WoW went through layoffs after launch?
I played it for 5 or 6 years just for the world PvP Southshore v Tarren Mill, City raids on Stormwind and the return favour on Org, that game was immense fun and all the pvp was invoked by the player and not forced or instanced by the devs. WOW in the good old days was a busy thriving world where questing was dangerous and exciting and carebears were QQing all over the forums instead of playing on PvE servers where they belonged, it was happy happy days.
However since I left (after it all turned shite with the horrible addons) I have yet to find another MMO that has either the atmosphere or the living world full of enemy players that can jump out from behind a tree and kill you while you quest.
RIP WOW the best MMO I have ever played and RIP the future of MMO's[mod edit]
Anyways nobody here can speculate about how well the game will do until they actually get to play it. I have been in the closed beta from the start and its heaps better than tabula rasa and does play a little differently.

If the game is really bad, ie warz I would agree, but lets give the devs a chance to flesh out the game before crucifying it.

Why latch onto a failed gameplay strategy like "twitch" anyway?

Don't forget that the creator's vision and the developer/publisher's changes were not the same.
