    A. This should be posted in the Pub.

    B. Becuase its fun and many people enjoy playing it, thats more than reason enough.

    C. Caps lock is evil, dont press it in, punctuation is your friend.

I think it's the objective of your past self to make you cringe.

    reason?
    well:
    1. Community. how many other players do you find in a singleplayer game? or why not face a living person in combat instead of a stupid AI :P
    2. Massive. not only players in multiple but the lands and stuff are much huger than i have ever seen in a singleplayer game
    3. Face it, Singleplayer games do not have what it takes to kill online gaming!

why waste a good internet connection ;)

We shall all die in vain.. you decide how!

I call it entertainment. I would however, call creating this thread and me replying to it, wasting time. Hypocrite.

oh its a better usage of time then say television....

Its proven that playing video games actually promotes brain growth, it reading and a few other things do.

where televsion puts your brain partially into a coma(overstatement)

so ill defend gaming on medical basis.

Well if they had a single player game for EQ2, SWG, Horizons, and WoW (these are the games i solo in) I would be playing the single player version instead. But since they dont i am playing the only version they have... The ONLINE one (except WoW atm)

The same reason people watch tv, go to movies or play any other sort of video game. It's a form of entertainment and it eases stress.(most of the time)

As a schizophrenic, sociopathic 14 year old boy I beleive I will die if I don't.

I got a feeling I'll regret saying that.

I think a reason why mmogs are so popular is this:

In real life there are a number of things and events that can happen, i.e. you can run to the store and eat or kill someone, and there's always the possibility of a large scale war that might change the world forever. This also includes things we cannot do: Fly, cast spells, freely enter vehicles and be capable of manuevering them and so on. In Online games, this is reversed. We can do lots of things that are't possible in real life like fly and cast spells and return to life when someone kills us, and we cannot do some of the things that are possible in real life, like go to prison or be a victim of a world or natural disaster like a hurricane. That is why people seek to the online communities, to get a change from everyday life, to experience some of the things they otherwise could not have experienced. This is of course only one of the reasons and only my opinion, hope this helps the discussion imageimage

well ok sorry for the all the "CAPS"
well what i haved type from the first post "the fact that its wasting time" was not from me either..
i only heard that from an ignorant parent scolding his child...

i really contradict that mmoping is wasting time...ok..
some may misunderstood my first post because its lacking of proper statement structure....
and for the ones who understand the topic "why there are so many people playing online games???"
others answered "correctly" and some too bad tsk tsk tsk... its too sad when one person doesn't understand a simple question...its like saying "how old are you" and you answered "my name is joe" tsk tsk tsk...

so im asking... "why" and i need reasons or answers.

btw... just correct a person if he's wrong and don't go straight into conclusions...

and one more thing "does online gaming has a negative effect on u(gamers)s" if there is justify if no justify thankyou...

sorry for being ignorant in forum rules...
    ^^

Why do people feel the need to use all caps when they type? There's no reason to yell. image

Online games have something that all other types of games lack. Playing online with other people. The community is why people play online games.

For those of you old enough to remember going to the arcade on the weekends or after school. Pumping quarters into Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. The fun IS the competition. I think that's where it all started personally. With the invention of the internet. People can get that sense of competition without leaving their homes.

And there you have it. image
