Roma Victor is a waste of time,

Will you really enjoy not being able to talk to any of your friends?

Will you really enjoy being killed every time you spawn into the game by people like me?

Will you enjoy me taking all your money, AND your items...And attempt to sell them back to you, the next time you spend your real life money on in game money?...

Will you enjoy saying no, I won't buy from you... So someone pulls a dagger from their belt and jams it into your neck, and takes your money AGAIN and leaves?

Will you enjoy looking at graphics, character models, landscapes, and whatever else you can think of, that look like the inside of the toilet  right after you take a sh--?

Would you enjoy taking 4 hours to travel to the next town over just so you can sell some tunic you made, only to be slaughterd on the road 10 minutes from town. Having your enemies ride off with your loot laughing?

Would you enjoy spending 2 weeks of time, and money, building your house to store your items, only to have a guy walk past it and decide, hey this looks like fun... <throws a match into the woodwork> imageBURN BABYimage

Would you enjoy it? Would yuh?

I seriously doubt it.

What a waste Roma Victor is, in time...AND money.

One dead man, a tragedy. One-million dead men, a statistic.

You're pretty much wrong in every aspect, and since this will be a genuine skill game and not point/click/fart like wow you kids won't have much chance.

I won't bother explaining to you and the rest why you're so wrong because I'm too tired.

BTW, only an ass would put a topic name like that. Which proves my statement on the top.

Actually ill be the one sticking a knife into your neck whcih is why you posted this retarded topic and why you wont have any fun in the game.  Its because you have no skillz and i have many skillz.

You arn't so free to kill as you think.  You should really not judge a game based on the information that is being said on the forums recently.  Really now you know you have no skills so you won't be killing anyone unless you have a gank squad.

Your mind is like a parachute, it's only useful when it's open.
Don't forget, you can use the block function on trolls.

Do you really think that you are going to discourage everyone from playing this?  If you don't like hardcore games where it takes dedicated players that is fine.  Go play GW or WoW where you can reach the end quickly.

Really it won't be that easy to run around doing whatever you want.  Cities have guards and you can guild buildings inside the city or rent them.  For the graphics kiddies here http://www.roma-victor.com/news/media/showpic.php?pic=GOCaT_ss1_030514.jpg  That is an old screen shot though.  Try looking through more than just one.  Don't jabber about games you have never played.

.. ok. I thought morons didnt care for Roma Victor *at all*. Oh well, seems I was wrong. You are lucky! I have time to make all your arguments fall to dust!

"Roma Victor is a waste of time,"
No, there are no subscriptions, so if I don't like it, I can just stop playing it. It's not like in WoW or whatever crappy games you play where you have to make your money's worth of time.

"Will you really enjoy not being able to talk to any of your friends?"
Moron. Does the concept of -starting in the same place as my friends- seem *too* alien to you?

"Will you really enjoy being killed every time you spawn into the game by people like me?"
No, because you won't be in the game. You yourself said it. And.. respawn points arent in the middle of the wilderness. And unless YOU enjoy being slaughtered by the praetorians/town guards.. your problem, man.

"Will you enjoy me taking all your money, AND your items...And attempt to sell them back to you, the next time you spend your real life money on in game money?..."
Fool. You can't take many items with you. Is the concept of weigth abstract to you? Also, people who have to have many items with them (without having the problem of running/whatever penalties), like crafters, will probably stay in the safety of the towns, where you cant just PK as you wish.

"Will you enjoy saying no, I won't buy from you... So someone pulls a dagger from their belt and jams it into your neck, and takes your money AGAIN and leaves?"
Having answered to the above question, I'll just send this one to /dev/null

"Will you enjoy looking at graphics, character models, landscapes, and whatever else you can think of, that look like the inside of the toilet right after you take a sh--?"
The graphics are turned down for testing purposes - most of the effects are even turned off. Thankfully, Septus87 already posted a link to a screenshot which is what the game will look like, sort of ( http://www.roma-victor.com/news/media/showpic.php?pic=GOCaT_ss1_030514.jpg ). I say sort of because that screenshot is +3 years old. Hah. ..

Would you enjoy taking 4 hours to travel to the next town over just so you can sell some tunic you made, only to be slaughterd on the road 10 minutes from town. Having your enemies ride off with your loot laughing?
No, because I won't be travelling that much. Most players wont EVER leave the area they start in. Because that area has plenty (PLENTY!) of stuff to do. No need to go on a walk like that just to "sell a tunic". The point is that IT IS POSSIBLE, unlike games like WoW where if you start in a server you're bound to it. Areas in RV will be like WoW's servers, but you can move between them as you wish (of course, it takes time, and most times it wont be needed/you wont want to). Yeah, each area is a server, but they are all connected to create a huge world.

"Would you enjoy spending 2 weeks of time, and money, building your house to store your items, only to have a guy walk past it and decide, hey this looks like fun... <throws a match into the woodwork> BURN BABY"
... Try throwing a match to a house. Even woodwork. Unless it's made of straw it wont burn like that. It takes more. In RV things like the quality of the materials, the quality of the construction and the "ammount" of fire will all matter, so don't talk about what you don't know.

"Would you enjoy it? Would yuh?"
    Yes.

    "I seriously doubt it."
    I don't.

"What a waste Roma Victor is, in time...AND money."
Yes. Because 20 euros is A FORTUNE (.. you pay almost that much / month for WoW.. and you also have to buy the game box). Oh, and RV's box only costs 20 euros.. :P Making 40 euros total. Less if you pre-order.

Im a little concerned with uncontrolled griefing.  Im fine with the full time pvp, just hope it doesnt result in abuses.  I guess im a little sensitive  about it, as I just went through a very difficult situation in another game.  Regardless, Im excited about trying RV out.   Im so desperate for an adult game that actually requires effort and determination, that im more than willing to put up with a few inconveriences.   I do hope sufficient thought is being given to this issue though.   image

If you want relative safety, seek it inside the walls of Roman cities.  Naturally you'll be safer there than anywhere else.  However, you won't be "untouchable".

No, no one killed me.   Rather, I was followed around for days on end by some little punk hurling racial slurs and threatening sexual violence.  Im sure you find that all very funny, but many women are bothered by continued threats of violence no matter how virtual, especially those of us who have experienced it in real life.   Not to mention that it clearly violated the TOS but nothing was done by any CSR despite screen shots to prove it.   I dont dislike full looting or free pvp, I do dislike the type of gamer they can attract.    Harassment is not fun, and nothing kills realism and immersion like some little preteen running  around yellin "OMFG I pwnd u noob"

I have no idea what your hostility is about, afterall I was merely particiapating in a discussion on a message board.   Imagine that.

I dont need safety, relative or otherwise, lol.    I like a good fight as much as the next person.  I was just thinking about potential problems.   Overall, this game sounds wonderfull.

Hey Chlaos - I think our man Ferox is just a little upset by some previous trolls & looks like you copped a hostile response on a bad day for the 24th legion's general, and you didn't deserve it. I'm sure he'll be man enough to offer an apology.

Griefing & ganking has always been a very hot subject within RV but having read the forums over the last couple of years (it took that long) I'd like to think the issue has been very well thought out. It will really add to the realism of the gaming experience that if you're stupid enough to go wandering on your own in hostile territory you'll end up very dead - it's a lesson you'll only need to learn once. Also, there will be no chance to spawn camp and with the reputation system gankers won't last for long with a price on their heads they to will soon be very dead & have a hard time getting out of elysium.

As for the grief you took in other games, I don't think for 1 minute that this would be ignored by RedBedlam, if you get the chance to look through the RV forum you'll see a very mature & adult community. I think anyone making sexual or racist comments will be dealt with very severely, it just wouldn't be accepted.

I'm glad you think the game sounds wonderful and it would be great to get more female players involved in RV once it's launched.

    All the best,

Thanks so much for your response.  This is actually the exact answer I was hoping to get.   I was in no way saying I wanted them to change the rules, much less asking that it be done.   I just wanted some clarification on the subject.

In the other game (SWG) it was clearly stated that this form of harassment  was against the rules, but they just didnt enforce it.   I suppose I was really looking for reassurance that whatever the rules are they will be followed before I invest another three years of my life.

For the record, I am a thrity-seven year old female who doesnt need to run to momma or anyone else for that matter, lol.   I can handle myself pretty good and its only the blatant harassment that I was concerned with.   I dont mind dying from PVP or even gank squads, its actually pretty fun to me done within the rules of the game.

In retrospect, thinking about my other situation.  In RV's system, I could have handled the situation on my own and wouldnt have needed CSR assistance.   But in SWG the person has to agree to a duel or declare himself overt, so he was able to harass me unimpeded and since he was afraid to duel me it was without consequence.   Instead, I was left with no other recourse but to put a million credit bounty on his head in case he did ever declare with a faction, and have him banned from over half the shops, player cities, and cantinas on the server.   Its good to have friends, lol.....

I certainly didnt mean to step on any toes or whatever, it was simply something that was on my  mind.  The more ive had a chance to pore over the RV forums and message boards, the more comfortable I feel about the maturity level of the gamers.   Thanks again for your thoughtfull and civil response.

Be intresting to see how this game goes. With games becoming so loot based be hard to see any game which allow for looting of items to be successful but hey i might be wrong.

I personally feel that since games keep getting more and more item-orientated, that full-loot will become a prerequisite for any game that has player crafting. Otherwise, the market becomes unbelievably flooded with goods that just sit there for years. When I played EQ, I went out of my way to buy some of the cheapest stuff in the bazaar and destroy it, just so you could stop getting a really good lvl 5 weapon for 10g.

That is the beauty of RV. In a game like WoW there is really nothing you can do. In RV you can turn around and slash the punk's throat. If you are not a fighter get some other guys to do it for you. I like to think of myself as the type who would help someone out in a situation like that.

Best example I can think of was when I played UO. There was a dungeon where inside was a room that spawned Skeleton Knights. Players would line up a certain way to bottleneck these guys so that 1 or 2 people took all the damage but everyone got to hit them for skill raising. The guys taking the damage were healed by everyone else and the system worked. It had to be this way because these skeletons could whoop any player they ganged up on no matter his/her skills.

Anyway, if someone wanted to cause a problem like running into the room with the skeletons and throwing off the bottleneck a couple of the players forming the wall would kill him and the bottleneck reformed. Though the players that killed the ass ruining everything became vulnerable to attack without penalty no one would touch em because we knew he did the right thing and because the rest of us would back him up in a fight.

Now when UO was split into 2 worlds, one that was PVP and one that was not, things quickly fell apart. Everyone was in the non-pvp world because it was where the population was. The wall in the Skeleton Knight room was still possible, but this time if some jackass ran into the skeleton room and broke up the bottleneck we could do nothing but curse at him. Eventually we all had to leave because absolutely nothing could be done.

I always have viewed griefers as those who make trouble in non-pvp games because you can do nothing at all to stop them unless they are truely in violation of the games code of conduct, and even then it is very hard to get a GM to interfere.

Another situation where UO proved that un-lootable items ruined a game. Before UO split between PVP Felucia and Non-PVP Trammel the entire game was open loot and open pvp outside of cities. Blacksmiths who crafter armor and weapons sold out like crazy and made a great profit. This happened for 2 reasons.

1.) Ingots used to make armor were harder to mine because Player Killers roamed the mines and mountains picking off any Miner using Macros or too weighed down to run away. This made materials less available and armor and weapons worth more.

2.) There was an open loot system and a constant demand for fresh weapons and armor.

Now when they came out with Trammel as a non-pvp alternative everyone rushed to it for the available housing. People mined all day long and smithed all day night. Most of these people while at work or sleeping. Macros were everywhere. GM(top level) Blacksmiths sprung up everywhere and the market was flooded with GM Weapons and Armor. No one sold out their stuff anymore. Add to this a lack of open looting and item insurance and everything turned to crap.

It drives me nuts that Game Devs can't learn from the mistakes of other MMORPGS.

Im starting to see that now, I guess im just a little slow.....lol.      My original question about it stemmed from hoping that the system didnt attract an inordinate amount of that type player, as opposed to realizing that I would have the ability to address the problems when they arose.

Like I said, im a little slow but im starting to catch on.     image
